Jennies Volleyball Falls in MIAA Championship Quarterfinals to Gorillas

ST. JOSEPH, Mo – The Central Missouri Jennies (19-11, 14-6) fell to the Pittsburg State Gorillas (17-13, 10-10) in the quarterfinal match of the 2022 MIAA Volleyball Championships inside the St. Joseph Civic Arena in downtown St. Joseph, Mo.
 
The Gorillas began the match on an 11-3 run before taking the first set. In the second, the Gorillas trailed by one before going on a 10-2 run to take a 2-0 lead. Thanks to a 9-2 run in the third, Pittsburg State was able to win the set and match.
 
The Jens were led offensively by redshirt junior Kersti Nix' nine kills and added 11 digs while middle blocker Jenna Schulte contributed eight kills, two digs, and one block. Setter Olivia Olson had a team-high 26 assists, five digs, three blocks, and two kills respectively.
 
Defensively, UCM was led by redshirt freshman Grace Winkelmann's match-high 22 digs while redshirt senior Rylie Barnum had eight digs and freshman Rachel Ziesman added five kills and three blocks.
