JOPLIN, Mo. – Julia Kristensen scored two second-half goals to lead No. 5-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer to a 2-0 shutout victory over the Missouri Southern Lions in the final match of the regular season Sunday, Oct. 23, at Hal Bodon Field.
The Jennies (15-1-2, 9-1-1 MIAA), who clinched their 13th MIAA Regular Season Championship Friday at Missouri Western, will be the top seed in the MIAA Women's Soccer Championship and will host eighth-seeded Missouri Western in a first-round match Sunday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. at the South Recreation Complex.
After both teams played to a scoreless draw in the opening 45 minutes of the windy match, Central Missouri broke through in the 73rd minute when Kristensen scored from the left side of the box to give the Jennies a 1-0 advantage.
Kristensen wasted no time doubling the UCM lead to 2-0, netting her team-best 14th goal of the season off an assist from
Ashleigh Martin four minutes later in the 77th minute. The assist was Martin's fourth of 2022.
For the match, Central Missouri outshot Missouri Southern (2-14-1, 2-8-1 MIAA), 22-4, including a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Sydney Beck (15-1-2) earned her seventh shutout of the season between the posts, giving up no goals while making two saves in 90 minutes.
