No. 25 Jennies Volleyball Sweeps Gorillas, Barnum Collects 1,000th Career Dig

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (14-8, 9-4 MIAA) swept the Pittsburg State Gorillas (13-10, 7-7 MIAA) on Saturday, Oct. 15, inside the Multipurpose Building to conclude Homecoming 2022 festivities. The set scores were 25-23, 25-16, 25-18.
 
In the first, redshirt senior defensive specialist Rylie Barnum (10 digs overall) collected her 1,000th career dig for the Jens. Central Missouri would later trail 4-11 in the set but thanks to an 11-3 run regained the lead at 15 before outlasting the Gorillas.
 
Trailing by one in the second, the Jennies went on a 10-3 run en route to a 2-0 lead. UCM got out to an 11-3 lead in the third before taking the set and match. Outside hitter Kersti Nix (match-high 23 kills, two digs, and two blocks overall) recorded nine kills in the set.
 
For the match, the Jens outhit Pittsburg State by a margin of .328 to .229 percent. Central Missouri was led defensively by libero Grace Winkelmann's match-high 23 digs, while setter Chandler Vaughan recorded a match-high 49 assists, five digs, and two kills overall.
 
Outside hitter Tiffany Little had 10 kills and two digs, plus Sydney Lierz contributed eight kills, eight digs, and one block in the victory.
 
The Jens return to the court on Friday, Oct. 21, as they hit the road to take on the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers beginning at 6:00 p.m.
