Mules Coast to 83-46 Win Over Missouri Western Wednesday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Ja' Cor Nelson scored 22 points and pulled down a career high 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season, helping Central Missouri Mules basketball coast to an 83-46 win over Missouri Western Wednesday, Jan. 26, inside the Multipurpose Building.

The Mules (9-8, 6-7 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Maryville, Mo., for an MIAA contest at No. 5 Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 3:30 p.m.

Nelson, a redshirt senior from Hopkins, S.C., went 10-of-15 from the floor, including a 1-for-2 performance from three-point range, and 1-of-1 at the free-throw line for his game-high 22 points.
Koray Gilbert (12 points), Ikenna Okeke (12 points) and Gaven Pinkley (11 points) also reached double figures for UCM.

The Mules shot a sizzling 52 percent from the field for the game, going 32-of-62, including a 9-of-25 performance from beyond-the arc for 36 percent, and went 10-for-16 at the free-throw line for 63 percent.

In addition, the Mules controlled the glass, outrebounding the Griffons (8-11, 4-7 MIAA), 45-34, and scored 23 points off 18 Missouri Western turnovers while only committing 14  turnovers of their own in the game. Central Missouri also dominated on the inside, outscoring Missouri Western in the paint, 46-20.

UCM limited MWSU to just 28 percent shooting from the field and 17 percent shooting from three-point range for the contest.

JaQuaylon Mays had 13 points, pacing the Griffons, respectively.
