WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The third-ranked Northwest Missouri State Bearcats scored seven touchdowns and tallied 511 yards of total offense to roll past the University of Central Missouri Mules football team on Military Appreciation Day Saturday, Sept. 18, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
UCM (0-3, 0-3 MIAA) is scheduled to host No. 25 Nebraska Kearney Saturday, Sept. 25, at 1 p.m. for the annual Family Weekend game.
Central Missouri quarterback
Logan Twehous threw for 182 yards, completing 14 of 22 passes, and added 13 yards on six carrier rushing, while Cam Saunders had 144 yards on five catches and
Devante Turner rushed for 86 yards on 13 carries, leading the Mules.
Redshirt freshman quarterback
Cedric Case, who made his UCM debut Saturday, went 5-for-11 for 35 yards.
Chima Dunga led the Mules' defense with 10 tackles, while
Deven Smith had eight tackles and a sack.
Central Missouri posted 405 yards of total offense in the game, including 295 yards passing and 110 yards on the ground.
Northwest Missouri State quarterback Mike Hohensee rolled up 260 yards passing, going 14-of-18 with four touchdowns, while adding a pair of rushing touchdowns to finish the game with six total.
Al McKeller had 95 yards rushing on 14 carries, and Kaden Davis posted 103 yards and two touchdowns on four receptions, pacing the Bearcats (2-0, 2-0 MIAA).
Jackson Barnes had 10 total tackles and an interception, leading the Northwest Missouri State defense.
