PITTSBURG, Kan. (April 11, 2021) - Central Missouri Mules Baseball had it all working Saturday: pitching, hitting and defense were all on point in their 13-1 to sweep Pittsburg State. The win puts the Mules at 24-4 this season and 20-1 in the MIAA.
How it Happened
• Central Missouri hit early and often. They scored 11 runs in the first four innings.
• The Mules outhit PSU 17-7.
• Neither team committed an error in the field.
• Of the Mules 17 hits, eight went for extra bases.
• Mules pitchers struck out 10 over seven innings, while UCM batters fanned just four times.

Josh Schumacher led off the game with a double and two batters later scored on
Dusty Stroup's RBI single.
• Two came in on
Alex Madera's infield single later in the inning.
Micah Evans scored from third and
Cole Taylor never stopped around third base, scoring from second on a groundball to third.

Cole Moore made it 4-0 Mules before PSU even took a turn at bat with a two-out RBI single.
• The Mules kept on scoring adding two in the second and third innings. Back-to-back RBI hits from
Erik Webb and Stroup gave UCM a 6-0 lead.
• In the third, Moore's triple scored Madera. Moore came in to score himself on an RBI ground out from
Donovan Ditto putting the Mules up 8-0.
• The Mules got into double-figures in the fourth.
Dusty Stroup launched a two-run home run and Ditto produced another RBI with a single to score Madera.
• Pittsburg State kept from getting shutout with a two-out RBI double in the home half of the fourth.
• Stroup wasn't finished. In the seventh he added another two-run home run, his second of the day as the Mules went on to win 13-1.

Conor Dryer got the start allowing one run on three hits in four innings with five strikeouts.

Dusty Stroup was a perfect 5-5 hitting two home runs and driving in six.

Alex Madera was 4-4 with four singles and three runs scored.

Cole Taylor went 2-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored.

Erik Webb scored three times going 2-4 with a double and an RBI.

For the Gorillas
• Aaron Gerdes drove in the only run for the Gorillas with a double.
• Dawson Pomroy reached base twice drawing two walks and scored a run.
• Jackson Blancarte started but couldn't get out of the first. He allowed four runs on five hits.

• The Mules winning streak reached 19 games, their longest since 2011.

Erik Webb moved his hitting streak to 24 straight games.
• For the second time this season, the Mules have scored 10+ runs in three straight games.

Alex Madera picked up his 150th career hit.

Dusty Stroup drove in his 50th run as a Mule. It took him just 51 games. For the weekend, he was 11-16 with two home runs and nine RBI.
• The Mules did not commit an error in all three games of the series, their first error-free series of the season. The Mules have committed just one fielding error in their last eight games.
• The Mules hit .432 as a team this weekend scoring 41 runs on 51 hits with an .805 slugging percentage and .481 on-base percentage.
