BELLEVILLE, Ill. (March 21, 2021) - No. 3 seed Central Missouri Jennies Bowling advanced to the Championship game in the inaugural GLVC Conference Tournament. The Jennies rallied from behind to advance to the finals before falling to No. 1 seed, and the No. 1 team in the country, McKendree.
In the mega-match format, the Jennies dropped leg one, the tradition game to No. 2 Maryville 1087-932.
Paytynn Kuhns was UCM's high scorer with a 199.
Sydney Miller wasn't far behind at 195.
The loss meant the Jennies needed to win both the second and third legs, the Baker and Match-Play legs to advance. Central Missouri took care of the Baker total pinfall round winning 986-928.
This set up a Baker best-of-seven to advance to the championship. Central Missouri got down early, 2-0, with 199-167 and 210-205 losses, but didn't let that phase them. The Jennies responded winning the next four games, three of which were close matches.
UCM got on the board with a 232-215 win, the highest scoring game for either team. The Jens then won the next two by a combined 11 pins, 191-185 and 181-176. The sixth game was all UCM as they cruised into the finals 219-128.
That set up UCM to face McKendree who defeated the Jennies earlier 2-0. McKendree got out to another hot start, winning the traditional leg 1137-961. The Jens were able to tie the mega-match in the Baker portion, winning a tight one, 985-964.
Central Missouri fought hard in the best-of-seven leg to force an if necessary game, but came up a bit short. McKendree won the first two games 226-153 and 201-180. Game three was actually a tie at 191 before McKendree took a commanding lead winning a tight game four 196-191. UCM got a win in game five, 197-173, but the Bearcats prevailed in game six, 247-191 to earn the championships.
An All-GLVC First and Second Team will be announced in the near future, including major individual player and coach awards for the 2020-21 season.
