BELLEVILLE, Ill. (March 19, 2021) - Central Missouri Jennies Bowling got off to a rocking start Friday afternoon on Day One of the inaugural GLVC Conference Championships. The Jennies went undefeated taking down No. 6 Upper Iowa and No. 2 Maryville and will advance to round four Saturday.
Playing in a mega-match best-of-three format, the Jennies didn't need match play to get out of round one. They defeated No. 6 Upper Iowa 2-0 winning in traditional team match and baker match play. The traditional match saw the Jennies win 870-799.
Tatum Ruffalo had the high score with 203. Moving to Baker total pin fall, the Jennies won 922-840 to move on to round two.Â
The second round against No. 3 seed Maryville needed all three games in the mega-match. The Jennies won the traditional match 987-889, but lost the Baker total pinfall 909-819.
Sydney Miller bowled a 276 in the traditional game to lead the Jens. She averaged 212.0 on the day.
Tatum Ruffalo was second for UCM averaging 190.5Â
The match came down to the Baker best of seven series. Central Missouri got the first two wins 203-192 and 189-141. Maryville took the next two, included a tight 194-189 win in game three. They had a big win in game four, 190-139. The Jennies bounced back to take game five 199-147 and Maryville forced a seventh game winning 205-169 in game six. UCM saved their best for last in an excellent seventh game that saw the Jennies prevail 213-203.
The tournament is double-elimination which means Maryville will play in a winner take all game tomorrow to advance to round four. The Jennies earned a bye into round four and will take on McKendree in their only match of the day at 1:30 p.m. McKendree is the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Win or lose, the Jennies will play again on Sunday.Â
