ALLENDALE, Mich. -- No. 11-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies soccer saw its 2021 season come to a close after a 1-0 loss to No. 1-ranked Grand Valley State in the quarterfinals of the NCAA-II tournament Sunday, Dec. 5, on a snowy GVSU Soccer Field.

The Jennies end their season with an overall record of 20-4-1, and as MIAA regular season champions in addition to NCAA-II Central Region Champions.

A goal in the sixth-minute of the first-half ended up being the difference in the match. GVSU's Caitie Baron scored on a deflected shot off the right post for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

For the match, Nayeli Gallo and Sydney Leslie both had a shot on goal, pacing UCM offensively.

Central Missouri goalkeeper Sydney Daris (7-2-0) took the setback in-goal, after making five saves but allowing the game-winning goal in 90 minutes between the pipes.

Kennedy Bearden and Cecilia Steinwascher each had a pair of shots on goal, and Baron scored the lone goal in the contest to lead the Lakers (22-1-2).

Grand Valley State outshot UCM in the match, 15-12, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
