ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Cameron Hunter and
Gaven Pinkley each scored 17 points as the Central Missouri Mules basketball team fell at Missouri Western, 79-65, Saturday, Dec. 11, inside the MWSU Fieldhouse.
The Mules (4-2, 1-1 MIAA) are scheduled to host second-ranked Northwest Missouri State Monday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg.
Hunter scored his 17 points on just 2-for-7 shooting from the floor but went an impressive 12-of-14 at the free-throw line while Pinkley was 5-of-10 from the field, including a 4-of-7 showing from three-point range, and went 3-for-4 at the foul line for his 17 points.
Matt Todd also reached double digits in the game, scoring 12 points, and
Mark Mayle paced UCM on the boards with seven rebounds, respectively.
Central Missouri was 41 percent from the floor in the contest, converting 20 of 49 shots, and 7-of-18 from beyond-the-arc for 39 percent. The Mules went 18-for-24 at the charity stripe for 75 percent.
UCM won the turnover battle with the Griffons (8-4, 4-0 MIAA), 12-16, but was outrebounded by Missouri Western, 37-25, and outscored in the paint, 22-12.
Will Eames netted a game-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting and had eight rebounds, leading the Griffons.
