Top-Seeded Jennies Host No. 8 Seed Fort Hays State In MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals

SCENE SETTER
• Top-seeded Central Missouri will host a first round match in the MIAA Women's Soccer Championship Sunday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. in Warrensburg against eighth-seeded Fort Hays State (8-7-3).
• The Jennies are coming off two shutouts against Missouri Southern on Friday, Oct. 29, and Missouri Western on Sunday, Oct. 31, for Senior Day.
• With the 2-0 win over Missouri Western, UCM clinched its 12th MIAA Regular Season Championship.
• In the 5-0 victory against Missouri Southern, Sydney Leslie paced UCM with two goals, while Kassie Newsom tallied a goal and two assists. Nayeli Gallo and Lindsay Edmonds also posted goals for the Jennies.
• In Central Missouri's 2-0, MIAA regular season title-clinching triumph over Missouri Western, Caroline Cole scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 53rd-minute. Sydney Leslie also found the back of the net on a penalty-kick in the 57th-minute.
• UCM is ranked number one in the second 2021 NCAA-II Central Region rankings announced Nov. 3.
• The Jennies are ranked 11th in the new United Soccer Coaches Top 25-Poll announced on Nov. 2.

 Last meeting: The Jennies and the Tigers met once earlier this season with UCM winning the match 4-2 in Warrensburg, Mo.

Postseason series history vs. Fort Hays State::
UCM leads FHSU in postseason series history, 3-1-0, including a 2-1-0 mark in MIAA tournament play. The Jennies and Tigers last met in the MIAA tournament in 2017, with Central Missouri downing Fort Hays State in Warrensburg, 3-0.
 
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Fort Hays State
• Fort Hays State has an overall record of 8-7-3 entering the the MIAA tournament.
• The Tigers won a 2-0 decision to Washburn on Oct. 31 in their last match.
• Amanda Rapaduski has contributed five goals, three assists, 13 points, and 36 shots, leading Fort Hays State after 17 matches, while Jordan Thompson has four goals, one assist, nine points, and 32 shots.
• Goalkeeper Deonna Wellbrock has played in 17 matches, tallying 79 saves, 14 goals allowed, and a .779 goals-against average.
• Blake Reyonlds is in his fourth season as Fort Hays State's head coach.
 
BRINGING HOME THE HARDWARE
• The Jennies won their 12th MIAA regular season championship in the last 14 seasons with their 9-1-1 conference record in 2021.
• The Jennies had nine All -MIAA honorees in 2021including Kassie Newsom, who was voted the MIAA Offensive Player of the Year, Lindsey Johnson, who was named the MIAA Co-Goalkeeper of the Year and Caroline Cole, who garnered MIAA Freshman of the Year accolades. Newsom, Cole, Sydney Leslie and Lindsay Edmonds were named First Team All-MIAA, while Johnson and Isa Yanes were second team all-conference honorees, and Lexi Ruf was a third team all-conference selection. Ashleigh Martin and Molly Ricker both were tabbed Honorable Mention All-MIAA, and head coach Lewis Theobald was voted the conference's Co-Coach of the Year.
 
JENNIES IN THE MIAA STATISTICS
• Through 18 matches, Kassie Newsom leads the MIAA in points (43) and assists (13), and is  second in goals (15), while Sydney Leslie is seventh in the conference in shots (58) and third in points (24) and goals (12).
• In the latest MIAA goalkeeping statistics, Lindsey Johnson is seventh in GAA (1.30) and saves (74), and sixth in shutouts per match (.250)
 
JENNIES IN THE NATIONAL STASTITICS
Kassie Newsom leads all of NCAA-II with 13 assists this season. She ranks second in total points with 43 (15 goals, 13 assists) and is 10th in total goals.
• Newsom set a new UCM single-season record for assists with 13 so far in 2021. The old record was by Jada Scott in 2017 with 11 assists..
Lindsey Johnson ranks 48th in the latest national statistics with her 74 saves.
 
WEEKLY HONORS
• Lindsey Edmonds earned her first consecutive MIAA Defender of the Week honor with her performance during the week of Oct. 25-31.
• Edmonds recorded one goal, three points, four shots, and three shots-on-goals on the week.
Sydney Daris earned her first MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week honor with her performance during the weeek of Oct. 25-31.
• Daris recorded three saves, and no goals allowed on the week.
 
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
• Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 37-1-1 at Jennies Field and have allowed just 19 goals in that span.
• The Jennies have outscored opponents 141-2 in goals at home since 2016.
• All-time at Jennies Field, UCM is 199-34-9. Under head coach Lewis Theobald, the Jennies are 136-13-8 at home and have posted undefeated home records five times.
 
ROAD WARRIORS
• In 2021, the Jennies are 7-1-1 on the road.
• The Jennies have outscored their opponents away from the South Recreation Complex this
season, 7-2.
• Under Theobald, UCM is 143-14-9 in road games in his 15th seasons of play.
 
CAREER MILESTONE WATCH
Lindsey Johnson enters the week ranked sixth in career saves with 231. She is also in the top-10 in saves per game (4.63), goals-against average (1.30 ), and save percentage (.779).
