WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Fourth-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball outscored Minnesota State-Moorhead, 26-10, in the third quarter to rally from a seven-point halftime deficit and post a 73-53 victory over the Dragons Saturday, Nov. 13, in the MIAA/NSIC Regional Challenge inside the Multipurpose Building.
The Jennies (3-2) are scheduled to travel to Jackson, Tenn., to take on preseason No. 19-ranked Union Saturday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m.
Redshirt senior forward
Nija Collier scored a career-high 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field and went 7-of-8 at the free-throw line and pulled down a career-best 19 rebounds for her fourth double-double for the season, leading Central Missouri.
Redshirt sophomore
Brooke Littrell tied her career-best for the third time during the young 2021-22 season, scoring 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting while making all six of her free-throw attempts. She also snagged 11 boards to complete her four double-double of the season.
Olivia Nelson dished out a career-high-tying seven assists and had a trio of steals.
The Jennies shot 56 percent from the field for the game, making 25 out of 45 attempts, and were 5-for-12 from three-point range for 42 percent. UCM excelled at the free-throw line, converting 18-of-21 attempts for 86 percent.
UCM limited MSU Moorhead (0-2) to just 31 percent shooting for the game, including just 21 percent from beyond-the-arc. The Jennies outscored the Dragons in the paint, 28-16, and outrebounded MSUM, 37-27.
