HAYS, Kan. (Jan. 29, 2021) - Central Missouri Mules wrestling faced their second ranked competition of the week taking on No. 19 Fort Hays State on the road.
The MIAA dual opened at 125 pounds with freshman Trevor Wishne against second-ranked Mason Turner. Wishne lost by a 16-1 technical fall in 3:30. It was the freshmen's second-straight night taking on top-ranked competition as he faced Nebraska-Kearney's No. 1 125 pounder the night before.
Central Missouri recorded wins at 157 and 165 pounds. The MIAA Wrestler of the Week John Ridle defeated Josh Lenker in a first-period 20-1 technical fall at 157 pounds. Ridle earned two take downs and four, four-point near falls before winning the match in 1:52. Emmett Kuntz added six points to Ridle's five, pinning Kadin Keacock in the fastest fall of the night in 1:20.
The Tigers picked up two victories by fall at 174 and 197 pounds. Jack Goin fought through three periods against Clint Herrick at 184 pounds before losing in a 6-1 decision. Central Missouri wrestled open at 133, 141, 149 and 285 which awarded the Tigers 24 free points and a 44-11 victory over the Mules.
Ridle remains undefeated at 157 pounds, posting a record of 6-0.
Mules wrestling returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 3 in a triangular against No. 4 Lindenwood and Kentucky Wesleyan. The first duals are scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.
