Where Are They Now: Tyrone Lee

Tyrone Lee has forever been immortalized in UCM Athletics, having been inducted into the UCM Hall of Fame in 2016. Lee played and started in all 120 games of his UCM career. He holds the UCM career record along with teammate Ron Nunnelly, for games played and was a member of 1983-84 National Championship team. The Mules were a combined 94-26 during his four year career. He led then CMSU in rebounding from his sophomore through senior seasons and has the 10th highest single season rebounding total in school history with 261. He ranks third in school history with 847 career rebounds, a 7.1 rebounds per game average.

Why did you choose UCM?         
I chose UCM because of the great tradition of Mules Basketball. 

What degree(s) did you earn at UCM?         
I earned a degree in Industrial Safety with a minor in Criminal Justice. 

What was your favorite UCM Athletic memory?
My favorite on the court experience at UCM was winning the 1984 National Championship. 

What was your favorite non-athletic related memory at UCM?   
My favorite off the court experience was when I graduated. 

How did being a student-athlete help prepare you for life after college? 
Being a student-athlete taught me discipline and how to follow strict rules. 

What are you doing now and what was your path to getting there?          
I am the owner of three restaurants. 

Who had the biggest influence on you during your time at UCM?
The person with the biggest influence on my was my coach, Coach Lynn Nance.

What do you like to do in your free time?             
I like to get out and play golf and also spend quality time with my wife. 

How often do you come back to campus?            
Once every two or three years. 

If someone were to enter your house, how long would it take for them to know you're a Mule?   
Not long. Maybe one minute.
