Feeney Placed Fifth at Super Regional IV Championships

HAYS, Kan. (Mar. 1, 2020) - John Feeney led Central Missouri with a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Central Super Regional IV Championships. The 133 pound senior was the only Mule to place in the tournament that included 11 teams and 104 wrestlers.

After receiving a first-round bye, Feeney defeated Bellarmine's Zach Larue in a 17-3 major decision match. In the semifinals, Feeney suffered back-to-back decision losses to Central Oklahoma's Cody Karstetter, 9-2, and to Maryville's Anthony Pisciotta, 8-3. Feeney earned the fifth-place finish by defeating Larue for a second time, this match winning with a 9-0 major decision.

This is Feeney's second time placing at the Super Regional IV Championships. Last season, Feeney earned a second-place finish and qualified for the NCAA National Championships.

Conner Dalton, Emmett Kuntz, John Ridle and Chase Miller each walked away from one win in the tournament.

At 141 pounds, Dalton pinned Robert Otero of Ouachita Baptist in 2:25 before lossing his next to matchups. Also earning win by fall was Kuntz at 149 pounds. Kuntz pinned Ouachita Baptist's Alex Thyes in 1:30. John Ridle won his opening match with a 14-4 major decision over Drury's Alex Garrett before lossing in the 165 pound quarterfinals and consolation round. In the heavyweight bracket, Miller picked up a 7-1 decision win over Kairus Washington of Kentucky Wesleyan.

Eight of the 11 teams competing in Super Region IV are recognized in the latest NWCA Division II national poll. Of the 104 total wrestlers competing, a total of 25 are individually ranked top-10 in the Division II.
