WICHITA, Kan. (Feb. 14, 2020) - Central Missouri Wrestling suffered a 31-9 MIAA dual loss to Newman Friday night on the road. The dual consisted of six decision matches, four of which were decided by just one point.
Central Missouri wrestled open at 125 pounds, awarding Jake Patch the six-point victory. Nationally ranked seventh in Division II, Newmna's Tyler Lawley defeated Mules senior
John Feeney in a 9-3 decision at 133 pounds. Central Missouri picked up their first victory of the night at 144 pounds as
Conner Dalton defeated Baylor Smith in a 6-5 decision.
At 149 pounds, Kevin Kissane earned the only major decision win of the night, defeating
Dakota Thevel 14-4. The Mules would win the next to matches at 157 and 165 pounds as
Austin Morgan defeated Mario Rodriguez 9-8 and
John Ridle defeated Kendall Frame 6-2.
With only a 13-9 lead, the Jet's won the final four matches of the night. Newman's JD Johnson pinned
Jack Goin in 2:17 at 174 pounds while Nate Panagaski earned the quickest fall of the night in 1:30 over
Zion Vasquez at 184 pounds. At 197 pounds, Newman's Ivan Balavege defeated Zach Hazen in a 5-4 decision, followed by Thor Balavage picking up 4-3 decision win over
Chase Miller in the heavyweight match.
Mules Wrestling returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 16 in their final dual of the season against No. 6 Central Oklahoma. The dual is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Edmond, Oklahoma.
