WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Feb. 1, 2020) - Central Missouri Mules Basketball picked up their second MIAA victory of the week in a last-minute 59-56 victory over Washburn. The Mules fought their way back from an early Ichabod lead and snapped Washburn's four-game winning streak.
How It Happened:Â
• Washburn took an early 5-0 lead while holding the Mules scoreless for the first 3 minutes after the tip off.
• With an 8-6 lead at the 14:39 mark, the Ichabods recorded their best scoring run of the game (10-0) as they grew their lead to 18-6 in four minutes of play.Â
• Central Missouri answered with a 12-1 run of their own, hitting 5-6 from the field while the Ichabods went 0-6 from the field, 0-5 from deep and 1-4 from the free throw line in the final five minutes of the first half. The Mules cut their deficit to two points to trail 27-25 at the break.Â

Gaven Pinkley gained the Mules their first lead of the game at the 15:50 mark of the second half.Â
• There was was total of five lead changes in the final 10 minutes.
• The Ichabods saw their final lead at 55-53 with 2:35 left to play. The Mules went on to outscore Washburn 6-1 as the Ichabods missed eight of their final nine shots from the field.Â
• Central Missouri finished 17-49 from inside the arc for 34.7% and 6-16 from the three-point range for 37.5%.
• Washburn hit 19-53 from the field for 35.8% and 8-28 from behind the arc for 28.6%.
• In a game with 50 called fouls, the Mules shot 65.5% to total 19 points from the foul line while the Ichabods totaled just 15 points at the free throw line, shooting 55.6%.
• The Ichabods did have the rebounding advantage over the Mules, bringing down 42 boards compared to the Mules 35.
It Was Over When...
• After a pair of free throws by
Matt Wilkinson, the Mules lead by three with only eight seconds left in the game. Washburn was uable to get a final shot out in the following seconds, awarding UCM the 59-56 victory. Â
Leading the Mules:
• Pinkley hit 3-7 from the field, 1-2 from the three and 5-6 from the free throw line to total 12 points. Pinkley also recorded the team-high of six rebounds.Â

Kendale Hampton went 5-12 from the field and 2-3 from behind the arc to also finish with 12 points.
• Hampton also recorded a season-high of four steals against the Ichabods.Â

Shae Wyatt finished with nine points.Â
Leading the Ichabods:
• Rathen Carter led the Ichabods scoring with a season-high 18 points.
• Tyler Geiman finished with 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
News & Notes:
• Of the 50 fouls called, Washburn was whistled for 27 of them while the Mules were responsible for 23.Â
• The Ichabods committed 16 turnovers leading to 14 Mule points.
• Pinkley has scored in double-figures in 17 of the Mules 20 games.Â
• The Mules increase their lead in the all-time series against Washburn to 52-50.
