LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 7, 2019) - Central Missouri Volleyball completed their opening weekend in Florida in grand fashion. They got a pair of wins the last of which a 3-0 sweep of Florida Southern (25-16, 25-22, 25-22). The Jens ultimately won three of four on their opening weekend to start the 2019 season.
Play-by-Play
• It was a great day for the Jennies offense who hit .307 for the match. They landed 48 kills on 114 attempts. Set three saw UCM score 18 of their 25 points on kills.
• The Jens scored some off the serve with five service aces.Â
• Both defenses played well. UCM had a slight edge in digs, 52-48 and blocks, 5-3.Â
• The Jennies took a 2-1 lead with an ace from
Audrey Fisher and never looked back. They quickly pushed the lead to seven, 12-5 to force an FSC timeout. Central Missouri led comfortably the rest of the way and
Rylee Neigenfind ended the set at 25-16 with a kill. The Jens hit .444 in the frame and
Hannah VanBuskirk landed four of UCM's 13 kills.
• UCM came alive late to steal set two from the Mocs. The frame started off with the two teams trading points. The Jennies led by two, 14-12, before Florida Southern scored six straight to take their largest lead, 18-14. The Mocs still led by three, 21-18 when
Sydney Lierz landed three straight kills to tie things at 21. After the Mocs took a brief 22-21 lead, the Jennies closed the set scoring the final four points with kills from
Ally Offerdahl and
Aubree Bell and a pair of attack errors from FSC.
• Set three played out similarly to the second. The Jennies were ahead early, 14-10, when Florida Southern made their run. The went on a 10-3 stretch to take their largest lead, 20-17. But UCM wasn't finished. They scored three straight to tie at 20 and then down 22-20, rattled off five straight to end the match. VanBuskirk scored three kills in the 5-0 run and
Audrey Fisher ended it with her 11th of the night.
Jennies Stat Leaders
• Fisher again led UCM with 11 kills and hit .579 for the match without committing an attack error. She also added three blocks.

Ally Offerdahl centered the UCM offense with 37 assists and picked up 10 digs and three kills as well.
• VanBuskirk finished in double-figure kills with 10.
•
Abby Skrastins led the defense with 17 digs.Â

Hannah Engelken and
Sydney Lierz all finished with six kills.
For the Mocs
• Buse Ene had a game-high tying 11 kills.
• Erica Ronda finished with 16 digs and nine kills.
• Beatrice Formilan had a match-high 18 digs.
• Annie Collins passed out 18 assists.

• Central Missouri has swept Florida Southern in back-to-back seasons.Â
• The Jennies remain undefeated when hitting .300 under Coach Piontek, moving to 112-0.
• In two games Saturday, Fisher landed 27 kills with just two errors and hit .500.
