WACO, Texas (Sept. 30, 2019) - With a 4-0 start to their season for the first time since 2009, Central Missouri Mules Football has once again moved up in the American Football Coaches Top-25 poll. This week, the Mules come in at No. 17, moving up a spot from 18 last week.
Central Missouri again put on an offensive display Saturday in their 55-27 win over Washburn. This week however, they did their damage on the ground. UCM rushed for 314 yards and six touchdowns.
Devante Turner and
Koby Wilkerson each rushed for more than 100 yards with Turner scoring four times and Wilkerson twice. The Mules defense forced two turnovers and brought down the Washburn quarterback seven times.
There was no change at the top with the top-10 teams all remaining unchanged from a week ago. Valdosta State received 30-of-31 first-place votes and is the No. 1 ranked team for the fifth time this season. They are followed by Ferris State, Minnesota State, Tarleton State and Notre Dame (Ohio).
Central Missouri is one of three MIAA teams ranked in the top-25. Northwest Missouri ranks seventh and Pittsburg State 15th. The three MIAA teams in the top-25 are the only remaining unbeaten teams in the league.
The Mules look to make it a 5-0 start this Saturday when they head to Joplin, Mo. to take on Missouri Southern. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
