KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 7, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Basketball had a short-lived run in the MIAA Tournament on their way to the 2017-18 National Championship. While they'll take the same end result, UCM was determined to spend a little more time in Kansas City in 2018-19. The Jennies made sure of that Thursday night with an 80-47 win over No. 7 seed Central Oklahoma in the Quarterfinal round. The Jennies move to 23-5 this season.
How it Happened
• Central Missouri shot 47% from the field while the Bronchos struggled going just 16-58 (27.6%).
• UCM held a big advantage in rebounds, 41-31.
• The foul line was a big help to the Jens who were 25-28, while the Bronchos were just 11-18.
• The Jennies raced out to a 7-2 lead following a three from
Sydney Crockett and layup from
Megan Skaggs.
• UCM pushed the lead to six, 10-4 when the Bronchos made a run. They scored 11 straight and took their largest lead, 15-10.
• Before the media timeout, Skaggs stopped the run with a bucket and a
Paige Redmond three capped a 7-0 run to give the Jens the lead back, 17-15.
• UCM led for the rest of the half. Redmond scored nine in the first quarter, going 3-4 from three.
• The Jennies got the lead to 10, 30-20, helped out by a
Morgan Fleming three-point play. Both teams kept scoring and at the break, it was UCM up seven, 35-28.
• Central Missouri pulled away in the third quarter. They outscored UCO 27-8 in the period, helped out by a 12-0 run.

Gigi McAtee drove to the basket and made it a 47-30 lead.
Megan Skaggs with a pair of free throws gave UCM a 20-point lead.
• Central Missouri continued to pour it on in the fourth. With the game in hand, the Jens outscored UCO 18-11.
It Was Over When...
• Central Missouri built their lead to 20 in the third quarter. With two minutes left in the period,
Megan Skaggs buried a three, then
Paige Redmond threaded the needle to find a streaking Skaggs and the rout was on at 60-33.
Jennies Stat Leaders

Megan Skaggs finished with a game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds. She was 7-8 shooting and 7-8 at the free throw line.

Paige Redmond added 18 points with six rebounds and five assists.
•
Morgan Fleming scored 17 and was 6-7 at the free throw line.
•
Peyton Taylor came off the bench to score eight points on 2-2 shooting.
•
Gigi McAtee played a career-high 26 minutes. She scored four points with four rebounds.
For the Bronchos
• Micayla Haynes scored 13 points and was 3-4 from three.
• Ireon Smith added 12 points with 11 rebounds.
• Blake Blessington scored eight with three assists.Â
News and Notes
• The Jennies have won seven straight games, their longest winning streak this season.
• The 47 points scored and 27.6% field goal percentage were both lows for Jennies opponents this season.Â
• UCM has scored 80 points in both games against UCO this season. The Jens defeated the Bronchos 80-50 back on Feb. 2.

Megan Skaggs surpassed 1,100 career points.
• Skaggs also picked up her fourth double-double of the season and her 7-8 shooting was the best individual shooting percentage night for a Jennie this season.
• This is the Jennies 41st MIAA Tournament win. They are 41-28. They also move to 18-10 in quarterfinal round games.
• UCM last made the semifinals in 2017, a 58-50 loss to Emporia State.
