Jennies Rout Bronchos in MIAA Quarterfinals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 7, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Basketball had a short-lived run in the MIAA Tournament on their way to the 2017-18 National Championship. While they'll take the same end result, UCM was determined to spend a little more time in Kansas City in 2018-19. The Jennies made sure of that Thursday night with an 80-47 win over No. 7 seed Central Oklahoma in the Quarterfinal round. The Jennies move to 23-5 this season.

How it Happened
• Central Missouri shot 47% from the field while the Bronchos struggled going just 16-58 (27.6%).
• UCM held a big advantage in rebounds, 41-31.
• The foul line was a big help to the Jens who were 25-28, while the Bronchos were just 11-18.
• The Jennies raced out to a 7-2 lead following a three from Sydney Crockett and layup from Megan Skaggs.
• UCM pushed the lead to six, 10-4 when the Bronchos made a run. They scored 11 straight and took their largest lead, 15-10.
• Before the media timeout, Skaggs stopped the run with a bucket and a Paige Redmond three capped a 7-0 run to give the Jens the lead back, 17-15.
• UCM led for the rest of the half. Redmond scored nine in the first quarter, going 3-4 from three.
• The Jennies got the lead to 10, 30-20, helped out by a Morgan Fleming three-point play. Both teams kept scoring and at the break, it was UCM up seven, 35-28.
• Central Missouri pulled away in the third quarter. They outscored UCO 27-8 in the period, helped out by a 12-0 run.
• Gigi McAtee drove to the basket and made it a 47-30 lead. Megan Skaggs with a pair of free throws gave UCM a 20-point lead.
• Central Missouri continued to pour it on in the fourth. With the game in hand, the Jens outscored UCO 18-11.

It Was Over When...
• Central Missouri built their lead to 20 in the third quarter. With two minutes left in the period, Megan Skaggs buried a three, then Paige Redmond threaded the needle to find a streaking Skaggs and the rout was on at 60-33.
