ST. CHARLES, Mo. (Feb. 27, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules Basketball cut a 14-point lead down to just one, but couldn't overcome Lindenwood Wednesday night in St. Charles. The loss puts UCM at 14-13 this season and 7-11 in the MIAA.
How it Happened
• Central Missouri shot 56% and 63% from three, sinking 12-19 from behind the arc.Â
• Free throw shooting was a big difference as UCM was 6-15 from the line and the Lions 13-15.Â
• The Mules also lost the ball 13 times which led to 24 Lion points, nine on the fast break. Â
• It was a hot start for both teams as three's were dropping.
Michael Winger made two and
Matt Wilkinson one and three minutes in, the Mules led 9-8.
• UCM soon went cold and an 8-0 Lion run gave them a six-point lead, 19-13.

Jakob Lowrance ended the run with a reverse layup just past the midway point, but another 7-0 Lion stretch put them up 11, 25-16, their largest of the half.
• Another three from Winger and a
Daniel Farris layup brought UCM to within six, 31-25 with just over five minutes left to play.
• Down eight in the final seconds, Farris found Lowrance in the lane who finished the layup and the Mules trailed by six, 38-32 heading into the break.
• The Lions came out in the second half hitting three straight three-pointers and an 8-0 gave them a 49-35 run.
• The Mules scored six straight, four from
Jafar Kinsey, and with 15:53 left it was a seven-point game, 48-41.
• Another three from Lindenwood and they were up nine, 62-51, just after the midway point in the half.
• UCM didn't quit though and a 9-0 run capped by a
Matt Wilkinson three brought UCM within one, 66-65, with under five minutes to play.
• Down five,
Michael Winger drained his sixth three of the game and it was 70-68, Lion lead with 2:49 left.

James Byrd had a chance to tie, but went 1-2 at the line and with 1:48 left it was again a one-point game, 70-69.
• After a Lion basket made it a three-point lead, the Mules missed two threes to tie and were forced to foul. The Lions went 6-6 in the final 30 seconds to put the game away.
It Was Over When...
• The Mules missed two threes to tie and with less than 30 seconds were forced to foul down three. Brad Newman went 6-6 in the final 22 seconds at the line to put the game away.Â
