MIAA Champions! Mules Clinch Share of MIAA Title

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 9, 2019) - For the first time since 2003 and the 13th time in school history, Central Missouri Mules Football is at the top of the MIAA. With their 73-6 win over Lincoln, the Mules clinched at least a share of the MIAA title and move to 10-0 on the season.

How it Happened
• The Mules totaled a whopping 790 yards of total offense and picked up 35 first downs. Defensively, they held the Blue Tigers to 263 yard and just 14 first downs.
• UCM won the turnover advantage 1-0, recovering a fumble.
• Central Missouri controlled the ball for more than 31 minutes.
• The Mules scored 10 touchdowns and a field goal and it all started with the field goal. Samuel Knowlton popped one through the uprights from 28 yards out for a 3-0 lead.
• Central Missouri scored 24 first-quarter points. They punched in three touchdowns in a span of 3:41. Brook Bolles connected for touchdown passes with Zach Davidson and Jalen Marsalis and Devante Turner ran one in from six yards out.
• UCM out-did themselves in the second quarter with four touchdowns. Turner started it off with a six-yard pass from Bolles. Bolles then hit some long passes to Shae Wyatt for 36 yards and Koby Wilkerson for 74 yards. Turner ran another one in and at the half it was 52-0 Mules.
• Late in the third quarter, Kareem Sanders added to the lead with a 10 yard touchdown pass from Kyle Bradley.
• Salvatore Garozzo and Jordon Hill added rushing touchdowns in the fourth following a Lincoln touchdown for the 73-6 final.

It Was Over When...
• After Marsalis' eight-yard touchdown pass, the Mules led 24-0 with just under six minutes left in the first quarter and the route was on.

Mules Stat Leaders
• Bolles finished his day an efficient 17-20 for 363 yards and five touchdowns.
• Devante Turner scored three times, twice on the ground and once through the air. He totaled 101 rushing yards and added four catches for 26 yards.
• Shae Wyatt led UCM with 132 receiving yards and had a touchdown.
• Koby Wilkerson had two catches for 121 yards and a score and also ran five times for 40 yards.
• Caleb Hentges led the Mules with seven tackles.
• Jacob Wiggins and Anthony Brown each had a sack.
• Cameroon Clay picked up a fumble forced by Joshua Terry.

For the Blue Tigers
• Hosea Franklin picked up 119 yards of rushing on 22 attempts. He also caught  the Blue Tigers only touchdown pass.
• Desmond Hunter went 12-25 for 111 yards and a touchdown.
• Dre'Shon Alston caught four passes for 35 yards.
• Chrisshun Robinson had 55 receiving yards on three catches.
• Cody Alexander and Chavon Gross each had nine tackles.

News and Notes
• This is the fourth time in team history the Mules have won at least 10 games in a season.
• The MIAA Championship is their 13th in team history and first since 2003.
• The six points the Mules allowed are their fewest this season.
• UCM has now scored more than 70 points in three games this season. They had only reached 70 points once under Coach Svoboda before this season.
• The 790 yards of total offense is a new school record, blowing past the old mark of 731 set last season.
• Brook Bolles is now in sole possession of second place in a few different passing categories. First on the UCM career touchdown list with 63. He has also moved into second for a single season with 37. And he is now the second all-time leading passer at UCM with 7,30 yards.
• Devante Turner moved into a share for third all-time at UCM in career rushing touchdowns with 35.
• Shae Wyatt is now eighth all-time at UCM in receiving yards with 1,850.

Up Next
• The Mules finish the regular season next week at Northwest Missouri where they can clinch their first outright MIAA Championship since 1988.
