WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 26, 2019) - The UCM Multipurpose Building was rocking with local elementary schools for Central Missouri Jennies Basketball vs. William Jewell. The Jennies hyped up the crowd and sent them home happy with a 69-59 win over the Cardinals. The Jennies are above .500 for the first time this season at 3-2.
How it Happened
• The Jennies had their best shooting performance of the young season going 22-48 for 45.8%. The Cardinals hit 36.4% of their field goals.
• Central Missouri got to the free throw line 27 times and made 21 of 27 while the Cardinals were just 13-22.
• The Cards held a slight edge in rebounding, 34-32, but lost the ball 14 times which led to 19 UCM points.
• UCM scored 30 of their 69 points in the paint while making just four three-pointers.
• After William Jewell got the first points of the game,
Megan Skaggs buried a three for a 3-2 lead and the Jennies never trailed again.Â
• UCM's defense smothered the Cardinals in the first quarter allowing just six first-quarter points and WJC went 3-11 in the frame.

Morgan VanHyfte put the exclamation point on the period with a steal and a fast-break layup and after 10 minutes, UCM led 14-6.
• Central Missouri's lead was in double-figures most of the second quarter and went up to a high of 16 after a
Morgan Fleming layup with 1:49 left to play in the half. Heading into the break, UCM was up 14, 33-19.
• The Jennies pushed that lead to 22 scoring the first eight points of the second half, but the Cardinals didn't quit. Over the final five minutes, WJC went on an 18-7 run and lead was down to 13 going to the fourth.
• William Jewell brought the lead all the way down to seven on a handful of occasions in the fourth, but couldn't get any closer. Leading by eight, VanHyfte hit a three to push the lead back into double-figures and the Jennies went on to win by 10.
It Was Over When...

Morgan VanHyfte hit a dagger of a three with 4:02 left to play to put the Jennies back on top by 11. Jewell had cut the lead from 24 all the way to seven, but after VanHyfte's three, the Jens kept the Cardinals away, leading by 10 the rest of the game.Â

Morgan Fleming finished 7-13 from the field and 9-10 from the line to lead the Jens with 23 points.Â

Megan Skaggs hit 51.9% of her shots and knocked down a team-high two three-pointers to total 20 points.Â
• Both Fleming and Skaggs finished with five rebounds. Â
• Fleming finished with the team-high five assists. Â

Nija Collier with six boards. The junior transfer also went 4-6 in the paint and 2-2 at the line to total 10 points.

Morgan VanHyfte chipped in five points and four rebounds with two steals.Â
For the Cardinals
• Kiara Bradley led the William Jewell offense and defense with 19 points and seven rebounds. The junior forward hit 50% from the field and from the three-point range, while also knocking down 3-4 free throws.Â
• Rhyann Fisher and Ainsley Tolson each finished with eight points. Fisher also dished out four assists.
• Lea Finn went 3-3 from the field for seven points.Â
News and Notes
• Central Missouri remains unbeaten all-time against William Jewell. They are 12-0.
• The Jennies are yet to allow 60 points in a game this season. The first time since 2006-07 UCM opened the season with five straight games holding opponents below 60 points.
• For the third time this season the Jennies have held an opponent below 10 points in a quarter, allowing just six in the first. UCM is 2-1 this season when that happens and 43-5 going back to 2016-17.

Morgan Fleming and
Megan Skaggs have each hit double-figures in all five games. Fleming has scored at least 19 in three straight. Fleming's 23 and Skaggs' 20 are both season-highs.
• Fleming also climbed up a spot in the all-time scoring list at UCM. With 1,142 points, she is now 21st all-time and just 18 points behind her sister, Kara Fleming, for 20th place.
• The Jennies' 45.8% field goal percentage was their best this season.Â
