WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 10, 2019) - The fifth-ranked Jennies Soccer team will host two MIAA competitors this upcoming weekend in celebration of Central Missouri's 2019 Homecoming celebration. The Jennies face Newman Friday night and Central Oklahoma Sunday afternoon. Sunday's match against UCO has been selected as a Division II Showcase and will be broadcasted by the NCAA.

The Week Ahead:
• Central Missouri's six-game win-streak came to and end on the road in Oklahoma last week. The Jens defeated Northeastern State 3-1, then tied Rogers State 0-0 in double overtime. The Jennies totaled 37 shots on the weekend lead by Newsom with 10, followed by Toth with seven.
• The Jennies moved up two spots to No. 5 in this week's United Soccer Coaches DII Top-25. The Jennies are the highest-ranked MIAA team. Emporia State ranks 14th and Central Oklahoma ranks 24th.Â
• Currently ranked fifth in the league, Newman has totaled 136 shots and 12 goals in their 10 games so far this season. The Jets keeper Jackie Lari has only allowed four goals, leading the league with a .390 goals against average. Central Oklahoma leads the MIAA with 34 goals on the year and is averaging 25.1 shots per game.
• Sunday's match against UCO will be one of the NCAA Division II Showcase games as a part of the NCAA Hybrid model. The game will be available at themiaanetwork.com and the MIAA Network OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV.

Newman: First Meeting 0-0-0
Friday's match against Newman will be the first meeting between the Jets and the Jennies.
Central Oklahoma: UCM leads 10-6-3
The Jennies have won six of the last 10 meetings against the Bronchos. In their total 19 matches, UCM has outscored UCO 31-23. The Jennies and the Bronchos met three times last season. UCO won the first two matches 2-0 and 6-1 before UCM defeated the Bronchos 4-3 in the MIAA tournament.Â
Scouting the Competition:
The Jets
• The Jets finished  their 2018 season with a record 12-4-3 which was a new program record for most wins.Â
• Newman welcomes nine freshman as they graduated 11 seniors last year, including Grace Linton, the 2018 Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the year. Two key returns for the Jets are Kyra Bulter and Vanessa Oritz. Both were selected to the 2018 South Central Regional Team. Bulter was also named to the 2018 United Coaches Soccer All-South Central region team.
• Newman went 0-1-1 last week as the Jets tied Nebraska-Kearney 0-0 and lost to Fort Hays State 1-0. The Jets last victory was a 1-0 overtime win against Rogers State.Â
• Senior forward Kennedy Weaver leads the Jets with 40 shots, five assists and five goals. Jets keeper Jackie Lari has 44 save in the net and leads the MIAA with a .917 save percentage and has allowed the least goals of any keeper in the league with four.Â
• Head Coach Aaron Avila is in his fourth season as head coach of the Jets. Avila posts overall record at Newman of 30-16-10 including a mark of 22-12-8 in Heartland Conference play. He has seen 18 players earn all-conference honors and seven earn all-region honors.Â
The Bronchos
• Central Oklahoma entered the new season as the defending 2018 MIAA champions after a 22-2 campaign last season.Â
• The Bronchos returned 16 letter winners from last year's squad, including a pair of All-Americans in Kelsey Gordon and Kelsie Eason. UCO also returned seven All-Region honorees. Gordon is a two-time All-Region winner and a returning All-American center back and was a key reason for UCO posting 14 shutouts last season and allowing a measly 0.58 goals per game. Gordon was also named MIAA Defensive Player of the Year. Asha Haile is also returning for her senior season and has 33 career goals entering the year. She scored 18 last season on her way to All-MIAA and All-Region accolades.
• UCO also returns goalkeeper Kelsi Gibson, who earned MIAA Goalkeeper of the Year honors last season. Gibson had 11 shutouts and a 0.53 goals allowed average. She made 54 saves in her 18 appearances as a true freshman in 2018.
• The Bronchos suffered their first loss of the season last week in a 2-1 match against Fort Hays State. UCO bounced back later in the week to defeat Nebraska-Kearney 4-1.Â
• UCO leads the conference with 34 goals. Close behind is UCM with 27. Asha Haile and Kelsie Eason lead the Bronchos with nine goals and six assists on the season and lead the MIAA with 24 points each.Â
• Head Coach Mike Cook has been with the Central Oklahoma soccer program since its inception and has guided the Bronchos to an amazing 309-114-30 record. Mike has led UCO to 12 national playoff appearances since 2000, with the Bronchos winning six regular-season titles and five tournament crowns during their tenure in the Lone Star Conference. Cook earned LSC Coach of the Year accolades six times and was named Midwest Regional Coach of the Year twice.
Jennies Spotlight:
•
Makayla Toth leads the Jennies with nine goals and ties UCO's Eason and Haile for most goals in the league.
• With two more goals last week, Toth now as nine on the season and has moved up five spots in the UCM record books and is now tied Hannah Pyle '16 for fifth with 36 career goals.
•
Haley Freeman leads the MIAA with eight assists. Freeman broke into the top-10 last week for most assist in a single season. The junior is now also for 10th in school history with 15 career assists.Â
• With 33 saves so far this season, UCM keeper
Lindsey Johnson moved up from ninth to eighth in program history with 111 career saves.Â
