Jennies Basketball Starts Three-Game Homestand This Week

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Jan. 15, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Basketball is back at home this week for the start of a three-game MIAA homestand.

Opponents: Lincoln Blue Tigers (9-5, 1-4 MIAA)
                    #24 Lindenwood Lions (11-1, 5-0 MIAA)

When: Wednesday, Jan. 16 - 5:30 p.m. vs. Lincoln
           Saturday, Jan. 19 - 12 p.m. vs. Lindenwood

Where: Warrensburg, Mo. - UCM Multipurpose Building 

How to Watch
• This weekend's games will be broadcast live on 98.5 The Bar and 1450 KOKO with Greg Hassler on the call. There will also be a webstream available on the Jennies Blueframe portal page at www.themiaanetwork.com/ucmmules. Live stats will also be available.

Tip Off
• The Jennies are home for the start of a three-game homestand. The play twice this week against Lincoln and Lindenwood. 

Story Lines
• The Jennies and Lions met three times last year with UCM winning twice during the regular season, but it was Lindenwood who got then better of them with a win in the MIAA Tournament. All-time UCM is 14-4 against the Lions.
• UCM is 1-1 this season against ranked opponents. This is the first week Lindenwood is ranked.
• The Jennies have won four straight over Lincoln and have dominated the all-time series winning 55 of the 58 matchups. 

Quick Hits
Last Time Out

• The Jennies went 1-1 on the road with a 70-67 win at Missouri Southern. They cut a 19-point deficit down to five in Pittsburg, but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 76-68 to the Gorillas. 

Previously vs. LU/LWU
• Lindenwood knocked Central Missouri out of the MIAA Tournament early with a 75-66 win in the first round in Kansas City. The Jennies led by seven at the break, but the Lions outscored UCM 47-31 in the second half. Megan Skaggs scored a career-high 25 points. UCM jumped on top of the Blue Tigers early, 25-10 in the first quarter with four three's on their way to an 80-55 win. Paige Redmond scored 18 points and Sydney Crockett was 4-6 from three. 

Jennies vs. LU/LWU
• Megan Skaggs is the Jennie with the most success against Lincoln. She's scoring 14.5 points per game while shooting 62.5% from the floor and 46.2% from three. 
• Sydney Crockett has also found success against the Blue Tigers going 9-26 from three and scoring 9.5 points per game.
• In three games and 21 minutes against Lincoln, Peyton Taylor has 14 points and nine rebounds. 
• Paige Redmond is averaging 15.6 points per game against Lincoln in seven contests despite shooting just 28.6% from three. 
• Morgan Fleming likes to see the Lion uniforms. She's scoring 14.7 points per game and shooting 51.9% overall, 72.7% from three.

Jennies in the Rankings
• Central Missouri has fallen out of the WBCA rankings for the first time this season. They are still receiving votes. 
• The Jennies had been ranked by the WBCA for 33 straight polls dating back to the 2016-17 season. 
• The Jens were picked first in the MIAA preseason coaches poll, following their 18-1 regular season championship last season.

Jennies at Home
• This season UCM is 3-1 at home after splitting against Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney two weeks ago. 
• All-time the Jennies are 472-107 when playing at home and 144-44 during the Coach Slifer era. 

The MIAA Universe (As of Jan. 15, 2019)
• Not one, not two, but three Jennies rank in the MIAA top-10 in scoring. Paige Redmond leads the way with 17.3 which is third, Morgan Fleming is ninth at 13.6 and Megan Skaggs is tied for 10th at 13.4. 
• Redmond is still leading the MIAA in minutes per game at 36.6. She is also sixth in FG% (40.7), third in FT% (89.3) and fourth with 3.9 assists per game. 
• Kim Crown is eighth in the league with 1.3 blocks per game. 

Individual Milestones 
• Paige Redmond joined the 1,000 point club last season scoring the milestone bucket against Pittsburg State. She is currently at 1,463 which is 8th all-time and need 82 more to reach seventh place. Redmond is also climbing the all-time 3FGM list. She has 179 for her career which is moves her to fifth all-time. 
• Sydney Crockett is also moving up the all-time three-point list and is currently ninth with 117 and 11 away from eighth place.
• Kim Crown needs 16 rebounds to reach 100. 
• Peyton Taylor is two rebounds away from 100.
• Megan Skaggs is closing in on 1,000 points needing 121 more. She will also reach 100 three-pointers made with seven more. 

10 Below
• For the last three seasons the Jennies have made a habit of holding teams to fewer than 10 points in at least one quarter. It's happened in 42 games dating back to the 2016-17 season and in those games, UCM is 39-3. The Jens were 15-1 when doing so in 2016-17 and 18-1 last year including four of the six NCAA postseason games. The Jens are at it again this year. In seven games, they've held an opponent to single-digits in one quarter of play, including last week at Missouri Southern and are 6-1 this season. 

Who's Hot?
• All-American Paige Redmond has continued to stay hot into the new year. Redmond was the MIAA Player of the Week three week's ago and hasn't slowed down. She's scored in double-figures in seven straight, averaging 19.3 points in those seven games. She also set career-highs with nine assists against Nebraska-Kearney and 33 points at Pittsburg State.
• Peyton Taylor has scored in three straight games and is averaging almost 14 minutes per game the last four games.
• In two of her last three games, Kim Crown has scored in double-figures including a UCM-high 17 at Missouri Southern. 

Scouting the Opposition
Lincoln Blue Tigers (9-5, 1-4 MIAA)

• Lincoln started the season by winning their first seven games. They've since gone 2-5 and are 1-4 in the MIAA.
• The Blue Tigers are a veteran team with four seniors and one junior as regulars in their starting lineup. They rely on those upper-classmen as four of the five average more than 30 minutes per contest.
• Senior forward Bre Coleman returned in December and has been a difference maker averaging 13.3 points and seven rebounds per game. 
• The Blue Tigers also get a lot of scoring from Zoi Thompson at 16.6 points and Zhaneshsa Dickerson with 15.6 points per game. Dickerson leads the team and is 2nd in the MIAA with 8.9 rebounds per game.
• At almost 43% the Lions are sixth in the MIAA in shooting percentage. That percentage drops drastically though behind the arc where they shoot just 27.5%. Tempary Gunter is their three-point specialist hitting on 34.3% of her attempts.
• The Blue Tigers have turned it over 219 times, averaging 15.6 turnovers per game. 
Player to Watch
#12 Bre Coleman (6-2, F, Sr., Cypress, Texas) - Returned in Dec. and has 4 double-digit scoring games

No. 24 Lindenwood Lions (11-1, 5-0 MIAA)
• The only blemish on the Lions resume thus far has been a loss at undefeated Drury. They are 11-1 this season and 5-0 in the MIAA.
• Lindenwood is led by junior Kallie Bildner who is second in the MIAA scoring at 18.4 points and leads the league in rebounding with 10.6 rebounds per game. She shoots 66.4% from the floor which is fifth in the NCAA.
• As a squad, Lindenwood is second in the NCAA shooting 49.5% from the field. They are also fourth in rebounding margin at nearly +13.
• Behind Bilder is a deep team with three scoring more than eight points per game. Lindsay Medlen scores 8.9 and is shooting 43.2%, Lexie Moe 8.8 and 48.8% and Charisse Williams 88.5 points per game.
• The Lions have had issues with turning the ball over, losing it 18.3 times per game and have a -4.67 turnover margin, worst in the league.
• Lindenwood does a good job on defense, allowing 61.8 points per game and their 201 fouls are the 18th fewest in the NCAA.
