DENVER, Colo. (Sept. 1, 2018) - No. 14 Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball trailed No. 21 Missouri Western two sets to none before coming back to win three straight and take a 3-2 (21-25, 24-26, 25-17, 27-25, 15-6) match win, improving to 6-2 on the year.
How It Happened
• Central Missouri's offense showed up in a big way, landing 72 kills and hitting .282 for the match.
• UCM also earned points with seven service aces and six blocks.
• Central Missouri jumped out to a 5-1 lead and pushed it to as many as six, 14-8 after a kill from
Audrey Fisher. From there, the Griffons went on a 7-1 run, tying the set at 15-all. After a Griffon error, the set remained tied at 21-21. MWSU scored the final four points on two kills and two attack errors, to take a 1-0 lead.
• Just like the opening set, the Jennies built an early lead, but couldn't hang on. UCM led 5-0, but the Griffons came back to tie at 19-19 and take their first lead one point later. Trailing 24-22,
Kylie Hohlen landed a pair of kills to retie the set, but Missouri Western ended the set 26-24 with two kills themselves.
• Both teams went back-and-forth in the early going with the score still tied at 9-9. The Jennies gained a three-point edge, 12-9 thanks in part to a pair of Griffon attack errors. The Jennies led the rest of the way and took set three, 25-17.
Kylie Hohlen scored four of the final five points with two kills and two service aces.
• Missouri Western was in control early, taking a 7-2 lead after three straight Jennies errors. Central Missouri fought back to tie at 14-14 and a kill from
Audrey Fisher gave the Jens their first lead, 16-15. The two continued to go back-and-forth with the match still tied at 25-apiece. A kill from Fisher and an ace from
Ally Offerdahl ended the set, 27-25, forcing a fifth and final set.
• After a 1-1 tie, Central Missouri led the rest of the way, leading to a 15-6 set five win. Leading 5-4, the Jennies went on a 4-0 run with a kill from
Kylie Hohlen and
Anna Sykes service aces. UCM continued the offensive onslaught with two kills each from
Hannah VanBuskirk and
Audrey Fisher. A Missouri Western attack error ended the frame to complete the Jennies comeback.
Jennies Stat Leaders

Audrey Fisher was the Jennies leader on offense with 26 kills and hit .585 with just two errors.
•
Ally Offerdahl handed out 66 assists and also came up with 11 digs.
•
Hannah Engelken added 11 kills and five blocks.
•
Kylie Hohlen picked up a double-double with 14 kills and 20 digs and also put down three service aces.
•
Hannah VanBuskirk chipped in 11 kills.
•
Abby Skrastins and
Carly Offerdahl played a big role on defense with 24 and 21 digs, respectively.Â

• Stephanie Doak led MWSU with 19 kills.
• Ali Tauchen had a double-double with 18 kills and 15 digs.
• Audrey Keim had a game-high 34 digs.
• Lauren Murphy had 58 assists.

Audrey Fisher's 26 kills were a career-high.
•
Ally Offerdahl's 66 assists were also a career-high. They were the most in a single-season former Jennie now coach Caitlin (Pankratz) Peterson had 72 in Oct. 2007.
• Central Missouri played three five-set matches in their four games this weekend.
• UCM added two more extra-point sets bringing their total to nine in 32 sets this season. The Jens are 4-5 in those sets.
• In their first eight games, the Jennies played six ranked opponents and went 4-2.
• Following the tournament, freshman
Hannah Engelken was named to the All-Tournament Team.
• The win means the Jennies take third place in the Colorado Premier Classic.

• The Jennies will play one more tournament, next weekend at the Newman Crossover. Their first match is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 6 against Newman with a 5 p.m. start.
