No. 3 Mules Even Series with Bronchos

EDMOND, Okla. (March 24, 2018) –Central Missouri Mules Baseball bounced back in game two against the Central Oklahoma Bronchos with a 8-4 win Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Mules improve to 21-5 overall, 12-3 in the MIAA and snap the Bronchos seven-game winning streak.
 
Play-by-Play
• The game did not see a run scored until the third inning. The Bronchos (20-9, 12-3 MIAA) had just two hits in the first two innings, while the Mules had none.
• UCM got on the board first with two home runs in the third to score five runs. Erik Webb got things started with a two-run homer to center field. Justin Graff-Rowe made it a 5-0 lead for the Mules as he smacked a three-run homer to right field.
• The Bronchos kept the game in reach with two-runs scored in the bottom of the third. A RBI double from Paul Kropf got UCO on the board. Dayne Sommer followed him up a RBI base hit to make it a 5-2 game.
• The lead jumped back to five runs in the fifth for the Mules thanks in part to five walks by UCO. With the bases loaded, Janvrin and Webb both made it home after John Fairchild and Harrison Schnurbusch were walked, respectively, before UCO escaped the jam.
• Kropf kept the Bronchos within four of UCM, 7-3, with a RBI double to right center to score D.J. Gasso in the bottom of the fifth. Both teams tightened up on defense and held each other scoreless the next three innings.
• UCM and UCO each added a run in the ninth. Pinch hitter Ryan Toliver grounded out to the shortstop to plate home Janvrin who got on base with a leadoff single down the right field line.
• The Bronchos led off the bottom of the ninth with a single and a double to get a runner in scoring position. A RBI single from Kyle Miskovsky made it an 8-4 game.
Luke Mercer replaced Bryce Kearns following the run scored by UCO and got three straight outs to close out the game and end UCO's hopes at a comeback.
 
Mules Stat Leaders
• Graff-Rowe was the top hitter going 2-3, with a run scored and three RBI.
• Webb collected one hit in three at bats, with two RBI and two runs scored.
• Janvrin finished 1-3, with three runs scored and had one stolen base.
• Able went 1-3 on the day, with a run scored.
Stanton Lohrengel picked up the win on the hill (1-0). In 1.1 innings pitched he allowed just two hits and had a strikeout.
 
For the Bronchos
• Kropf totaled three hits in five at bats. He finished with two RBI and a run scored
• Miskovsky went 1-4, with a run scored and a RBI.
• Jake Dyer had two hits in four plate appearances.
• Sommer was 1-3, with a RBI.
• Gaylon Viney suffered the loss to fall to 2-1. He allowed seven runs, two earned, on three hits. He struck out five batters and had three walks in four innings pitched.
 
News and Notes
• The Mules are now 2-0 in game two of a three games series after dropping the opener. They are 3-1 overall following a loss this season.
• UCMs' win in game two snaps a two game skid against UCO. UCM is now 8-6 against the Bronchos under Kyle Crookes.
• The Mules are now 3-1 when they hit two or more home runs in a game. They are now 8-3 when scoring 6-9 runs in a game this season.
• Graff-Rowe's two hits in game two brings his career total to 99. He is just one shy of reaching 100.
