ST. CHARLES, Mo. (Feb. 17, 2018) - Ninth-ranked Central Missouri Jennies Basketball clinched a share of their 11th MIAA Regular Season Title in program history as they took down the Lindenwood Lions 73-60 Saturday afternoon at Hyland Arena. With the win, the Jennies improve to 22-2 and 16-1 in the MIAA.
How It Happened
• The Jennies finished the game 40% from the floor on 24-60 made baskets. The Lions (14-12 6-12 MIAA) shot 38.9% on 21-54 shooting. The Jens went 7-21 from three-point range for 33.3%, while the Lions were 5-14 (35.7%).
• The first quarter was a lowing scoring affair in the first five minutes as the Jennies and Lions were tied 5-5 at the midway point.
• Things picked up the rest of the first quarter as the two teams scored a combined 24 points. Lindenwood led UCM 18-16 going into the second quarter.
• The Jennies put 16 points in the second, while the Lions added 13. UCM led by just one going into the break.
Paige Redmond led all scorers with 10 first half points
• A 9-2 Jens run helped them grab the 32-31 halftime lead, with six of those points coming at the free throw line. A Redmond triple with :31 to play in the half help give UCM its first lead of the game.
• UCM did not shoot the ball well from the floor in the first 20 minutes going just 10-32 for 31.3%. They did find success at the free throw line though shooting 9-10 for 90%.
• The Lions shot 41.4% in the first half on 12-29 shooting. They out-rebounded the Jennies by just two, 20-18.
• The second half was a turnaround for UCM as the team scored 19 and 22 in the third and fourth quarter, respectively.
• Redmond,
Morgan Fleming, and
Kayonna Lee were a triple-threat for the Jens in the second half. They combined to score 38 of the Jens 41 points. Redmond and Fleming each had 14 points, while Lee added 10.
• Defense was a factor coming out of the break, as UCM held Lindenwood to 13 points in the third quarter. For the second half, the Jens held the Lions to just nine made shots on 25 attempts for 36%
• The fourth quarter once again belonged to the Jennies as they outscored the Lions 22-16. Offensively, the Jens shot 50% thanks to 14-28 made baskets. They were 4-6 from three-point range.
• For the game, the Jennies outrebounded Lindenwood 38-36. Despite committing 12 turnovers to the Lion's eight, UCM had 14 second-chance points. Lindenwood has just eight.
It Was Over When...
• A Lindenwood layup with 2:14 to play in the game got the Lions within nine and chance to make a run, but that was silenced by Redmond and Fleming. Redmond nailed a pair of free throws, while Fleming made back-to-back layups to give UCM a 73-58 lead with 1:13 to play.
Jennies Stat Leaders
• Redmond led all scorers with 28 points on 8-18 shooting. She was perfect at the free throw line going 9-9 and dished out a game-high five assists.
• Fleming put up 20 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine. She was 6-14 from the floor. She also had three assists.
• Lee posted a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 boards. She shot 4-7 and, like Redmond, she did not miss a free throw going 4-4.

Megan Skaggs chipped in seven points for the Jens on 3-8 shooting and pulled in four rebounds.
For the Lions
• Lindsay Medlen scored a team-high 13 points while going 5-13 from the floor. She also grabbed five boards.
• Jerricah Butler scored 13 points off the bench on 23 minutes of playing time. She finished 4-67 shooting and had two made triples.
• Kallie Bildner added 11 points on 5-9 shooting and led the Lions with eight rebounds.
• Sara Ross chipped in eight points and grabbed six boards.
News and Notes
• The Jennies clinch a share of the MIAA Regular Season Title with the win over Lindenwood. It is their 11th regular season crown in program history and first since the 2013-14 season. It is the second regular title under

• Redmond's 28 points puts her career total 1,084. She now sits 24th in career scoring for Jennie Basketball History. He 28 points are also a season-high.
• Lee's double-double is her fifth of the season. Her 12 points now puts her career total at 477. She is just 23 points shy of 500.
• Fleming is also approaching 500 career points. With her 20 on Saturday, she now has 472 career points and is 28 shy of reaching 500.

• The Jennies will return home for Senior Day this Thursday, Feb. 22 against Missouri Southern. UCM defeated the Lions 80-63 in Joplin earlier this season. Four Jennies will be honored prior to tip-off, which is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
