Jennies Soccer Tripped Up in The Elite Eight

ALLENDALE, MI. (Nov. 18, 2018) - The Central Region Champions, Central Missouri, and the Midwest Region Champions, Grand Valley State, met up for the fifth consecutive time in the elite eight earlier today, falling to the Lakers 6-1.

How it Happened
•  The Lakers wasted no time to get on the board in the 2nd minute of play Ava Cook gave them a 1-0 lead.
• In the 7th minute, Grand Valley was back with another goal from Ava Cook to extend their lead 2-0 early.
• Grand Valley continued with the momentum in the 15th minute when Riko Sagara found the back of the net to lead 3-0.
• Coming out of the half, the Lakers set the tone in the 48th minute with a goal from Madeline Becker to lead 4-0.
• Jada Scott broke away in the 57th minute and found the back of the net to put the Jens on the board 4-1.
• The Lakers immediately responded in the 60th minute when Riko Sagara score a goal leaving the score 5-1.

It was Over When...
• In the 64th minute, Grand Valley Madeline Becker found the net for another GVSU goal to lead the Jennies 6-1.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Jada Scott had one goal, and two shots, and two shots on goal for the Jennies.
• Makayla Toth contributed two goals, six shots.
• Maria Wilder contributed one shot and one shot on goal.
• Haley Freeman, Makayla Martin, and Courtney Killian all added one shot in the match.

For the Lakers
• Ava Cook led the Lakers with two goals, six shots, and five shots on goal.
• Riko Sagara scored two goals, five shots, three shots on goal and two assists for GVSU.
• Madeline Becker added two goals, two shots and two shots on goal on the day.

• This was the fifth consecutive meeting of UCM and GVSU in the elite eight.
