Mules Drop Regular Season Finale to Bearcats

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 10, 2018) – Central Missouri Mules football finished the regular season at home with a 48-21 loss to No. 19 Northwest Missouri State. UCM finishes the regular season at 5-6.

How it Happened
• Northwest Missouri scored early and often. The Mules couldn't do much against the Bearcat defense totaling just 187 yards while allowing 517. After three quarters, UCM had just 62 yards of offense.
• UCM also lost the turnover battle 3-1 and gave up 21 points off turnovers.
• The Bearcats controlled the ball for 42:13 and UCM had just 17:47 time of possession.
• Third down was a killer for UCM. They went just 1-11 while the Bearcats were 9-19.
• The Bearcats scored on their opening drive, needing just 2:09 to go 85 yards. Josh Caldwell set them up with a 46 yard run and punched it in from one yard out.
• Northwest scored again in the first following a UCM interception that was returned down to their nine-yard line. Braden Wright found Marqus Andres for a four yard score.
• After the teams traded punts to start the second, Northwest capped a nine-play 69 yard drive with Wright finding Caldwell for a 20 yard catch-and-run.
• With less than one minute to play in the first half, NWMSU tacked on a field goal making it 24-0 at the break.
• Northwest ran away with in the third quarter scoring three touchdowns. A short field set up the first score of the half when Caldwell scored his third TD, a 34 yard rush.
• The Bearcat defense forced a turnover on the Mules ensuing drive and scored on another short field, driving 30 yards in six plays. On third down, Wright found Chase White for a one-yard score.
• Caldwell scored his fourth touchdown near the end of the third quarter with a 22-yard rush.
• A break finally went the Mules way in the fourth. Kolesen Crane forced a fumble that was pounced on by Ubong Udom. It took only one play for Kyle Bradley to find Kyrion Parker who made a circus catch in the endzone to get the Mules on the board.
• After a three-and-out, the Mules struck again. It was the same combination, Bradley to Parker, this time from 38 yards away.
• Bradley added a rushing touchdown and the Bearcats kicked a late field goal to get to our 48-21 final.

It Was Over When…
• Coming out of the half down 24-0, both teams were forced to punt on their opening drives. On their own 18-yard line, a short punt set up the Bearcats at the UCM 41 yard line. Three played later NWMSU scored to make it a 31-0 game midway through the third.
