Volleyball Falls to #4 UNK

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 6, 2018) - Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball's four game winning streak came to a halt Saturday afternoon at the hands of No. 4 Nebraska-Kearney. The Lopers defeated the Jens 3-0 (21-25, 22-25, 18-25) in three close sets. The loss puts UCM at 16-5 this season and 6-3 in the MIAA.

How it Happened
• The Jennies committed three more errors than UNK, 13-10, and lost the attack percentage battle, .258-.250.
• The Lopers landed three more service aces and had seven blocks to the Jennies two.
• All three sets were tight, with two of the three decided by four points or less. In the opener, UNK made a small lead hold up. Earning a point on a kill making it 3-2, the Lopers never gave the lead back. They led by as much as five, 16-11, but UCM got to within two on a number of occasions and one near the end of the set. The Jennies scored three straight to cut lead down to 22-21, but Nebraska-Kearney scored the final three of the set to end it, 25-22.
• The second set was the closest of the three with eight ties and five lead changes. The Jennies led by three early, 8-5, but a 4-0 UNK run gave the Lopers the lead at 9-8. The two teams battled and with the score tied at 12-all, UNK went on another run, this time 6-0 to take an 18-12 lead. Still ahead by six, 22-16, it was the Jennies turn to make a run, going on a 6-0 stretch of their own, tying the set on a kill from Hannah Engelken. But like set one, the Lopers scored the final three points with three straight kills and took the second set, 25-22.
• The Jennies led early in the third set, 2-1, but that was the last time. UNK rattled off three straight, giving them a 4-2 lead and never trailed again. They were able to maintain a multiple-point lead the rest of the set and went on to take set three, 25-18.
