Jennies Host Lindenwood For MIAA Quarterfinals

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 30, 2018)-- Jennies Soccer came in at No. 2 in the MIAA standings and are set to host the No. 7 seeded Lindenwood Wednesday, Oct. 31st at 3 p.m. at Jennies Field. The Jens are now 14-3-1 overall and moved to 8-2-1 in the MIAA after a pair of wins last week.

The Week Ahead
• The Jennies are coming off of an 2-0 week at home. The Jennies defeated Lindenwood at home 3-2, then shutout Missouri Western on Senior Day 4-0. Those two wins improved their record to 14-3-1 overall and 8-2-1 in MIAA play. 

• Heading into post season play the Jennies are ranked No, 2 in the MIAA and host No. 7 Lindenwood. The Jennies have not lost a home game this season and are currently 9-0-1 when playing at Jennies Field. 

• In addition, UCM students will get a free ticket to the game courtesy of UCM President Dr. Roger Best.

• The Jennies entered the 2018 season ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll (formerly National Soccer Coaches Association of America). UCM is coming off its eighth straight MIAA Regular Season championship, fourth MIAA Tournament championship, fourth straight Central Region crown, and a 2017 NCAA D2 National Championship Title..

Series History
Lindenwood: UCM leads 13-2-0

The Jennies and the Lions met twice last season and UCM shut LWU out both times. The first meeting at Jennies Field UCM won 7-0. The second meeting at Lindenwood the Jens won 3-0. This season the two met at LWU and the Jennies came out on top 3-0. The Jennies have not lost to Lindenwood since 1997. This season the Lions and the Jennies met just last week at Jennies Field. The Jennies held on and defeated the Lions 3-2 in a intense match-up. 

Scouting the Competition

• The Lions are now 7-9-2 on the season ranking 7th in the standings for the MIAA Tournament. The Lions were just in Warrensburg last week and fell to the Jens 3-2 before defeating Northwest Missouri State 1-0.
• Lindenwood is led by Morgan Weller, Sami Gregory and Katie Richter. Morgan Weller, a sophomore forward is leading the Lions in goals with five on the season, leading in assist with four, and has a total of 25 shots on the season.Sami Gregory is next on the team with three goals on the season, two assist and 26 shots heading into post-season play. Katie Richter, a junior forward is another strong player with three goals on the season, two assist, and 21 shots thur far. 
• As a team, the Lions have scored 20 goals on the season, 19 assists and 59 points so far. 
• Head Coach Dave Musso enters his first season with the Lions of Lindenwood.
• The Jennies lead the Lions all-time 14-2-0. The Jennies have not lost to the Lions since 1997.
 
Opening Weekend
• The Jennies 88 goals scored last this season ranks them in the top five in Division II in total goals at second.
• The Jennies have averaged 3.52 goals per game this season which ranked third in Division II in scoring offense.
• UCM's 45 assists last season was the most in the MIAA and was tied for tenth most in Division II.
• With 221 points total on 88 goals scored and 45 assists, the Jennies were third in Division II in total points.
• In 24 games last season, UCM outscored opponents 88-4 with a 538-204 shots advantage.

Bringing Home the Hardware
• The Jennies posted shutouts in 21 of their wins last season and their four goals allowed was the least allowed in Division II this season.
• The Jennies all-around defense in shutouts (21), shutout percentage (.875), goals-against average (.160), and save percentage (.956) leads all of Division II this season.
• The Jennies were the only team in Division II that allowed just four goals this season. The Jennies four goals allowed was the least allowed in the MIAA. Their 21 shutouts and 25 wins were the most in a single season in UCM History

One for the Record Books
• The 2017 squad is the first team in program history and MIAA history to post 12 consecutive shutouts. 
• UCM was just the fourth team in NCAA Division II history to post 12 consecutive shutouts
• Dating back to the 2015 season, UCM has scored a goal in 58 straight games which are both a UCM and MIAA record.
• The Jennies were 26-0-0 for the first time in program history. No other team in program history has ever accomplished that feat.
• UCM's 221 points and 88 goals are the most in a single season in program history.
