Soccer Gets Second Shutout This Weekend

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 14, 2018) - Central Missouri Jennies Soccer picked up their second shutout win this week with a 2-0 victory over Nebraska-Kearney. The win pushed UCM to 11-2-1 this season and 5-1-1 in the MIAA.

How it Happened
• It was a cold and rainy afternoon at Jennies Field. There was a steady mist throughout most of the game with short bursts of harder rain fall.
• The Jennies controlled possession for much of the game. They had a big advantage in shots, 23-5 and corner kicks, 10-3.
• The Lopers seemed content to play defense in the first half, and it seemed to be working. With less than 10 minutes to play in the half, the game was still scoreless.
• That changed when Courtney Killian found the back of the net. UCM forced a turnover and Killian took control. She ripped one from 20 yards out into the top-right corner of the net in the 38th minute.
• Central Missouri continued the pressure to start the second half. They added their second goal off of a corner kick, when the ball found the net off the head of a Loper.
• Leading by two, the Jennies continued to possess the ball for most of the second half. The Jennies outshot the Lopers 11-1 in the second period.
• For the entire 90 minutes, the Lopers only got one shot on net, which was saved by UCM goalkeeper Lindsey Johnson.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Courtney Killian had the Jennies only goal on three shots with two on net.
• Makayla Toth, Haley Freeman and Maria Wilder each had four. Two of Toth's went on net.
• Lindsey Johnson had a clean day. She saw only five shots all afternoon, making one save.

For the Lopers
• Allie Prososki started in net and allowed two goals on 23 shots while making six saves.
• Caitlin Rerucha had two of the Lopers five shots.

News and Notes
• The goal from Killian was her eighth this season and 15th of her career.
• This is the second time this season the Jennies have picked up back-to-back shutout wins. Each of their last three wins have come via shutout.
• The own goal was the third this season to go in the Jennies favor, all in the last three games.
• UCM's 10 corner kicks were their most this season.
• This is the seventh time in 14 games the Jennies have taken at least 20 shots.
• Goalkeeper Lindsey Johnson has three shutouts in four starts this season.
• The five shots by UNK are the fewest the Jennies have allowed in a game this season.

Up Next
• The Jennies will be back on the road next weekend. They'll be in Topeka, Kan. to take on Washburn Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.
