ST. CLOUD, Minn. (Sept. 8, 2017)-- Fourth-ranked Jennies Soccer (3-0) continued to shine early in the season as they posted their third straight shutout with a 2-0 road win over St. Cloud State Friday night at Husky Stadium.

Kayla Hamner paced the way for the way for the Central Missouri offense scoring one goal and notching one assist for three points. Senior
Baylie Edwards also contributed on offense scoring the game winning goal for the Jennies in the first period. Defensively, senior goalkeeper
Ana Dilkes grabbed two saves in six shots faced to earn her third shutout of the season.
The Jennies applied pressure early on defense and showed patience on the offensive side. UCM held St. Cloud State to just two shots in the first 15 minutes and did not take its first shot until the 15th minute. Edwards slipped behind the Husky defense to the middle of field where she handled a pinpoint pass from Hamner and sent her shot to the left corner of the net past the goalkeeper's reach. Edwards' goal is her first of the season as is Hamner's assist.
Heading into halftime, the Jennies held their 1-0 lead over the Huskies. Defensively, UCM held St. Cloud State to just three shots in the first period while taking five shots total, two of which were on goal.
Hamner and the Jennies offense wasted little time pushing their lead to 2-0 as she scored at the 46:38 mark. Hamner took the ball inside the left area of the box and nailed her shot to the right corner of the net from four yards out. The goal is Hamner's first of the season.
UCM continued its defensive dominance in the second period allowing just total three shots by the Huskies. For the game, the Jennies gave up a season low six shots as they posted their third straight shutout. Offensively, UCM took 13 total shots with six of them being on goal.
The Jennies stay in state for the weekend as they take on the Winona State Warriors Sunday Sept. 10. Opening kick is set for 12 p.m. at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
