No. 4 Jennies Soccer Set for Week Three Matches

The Week Ahead
• The Jennies are home for one of two games this weekend as they host Lindenwood Friday and travel to Northwest Missouri State Sunday for two of their final three non-conference games of the season. Friday's home game will kickoff at 7 p.m., while Sunday's road game will start at 12:30 p.m.
• The Jennies held down the No. 4 spot in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll after improving to 4-0 on the season. The Jennies have posted shutouts in every game this season and have scored 15 total goals in their four wins.
• Goalkeeper Ana Dilkes repeated her week one performance with back-to-back shutouts in week two and was named MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week for the second straight week.

Series History
Lindenwood: UCM leads 11-2-0
The Jennies have handled the Lions in the series, winning the last 10 games all in shutout fashion. Lindenwood last defeated UCM in 1997 by a score of 2-1. Overall, the Jennies have allowed just seven goals in the series against the Lions.

Northwest Missouri: UCM leads 26-3-4
UCM and Northwest Missouri have matched up every season since 1999. The Jennies have not lost to the Bearcats since 2008, winning the last 15 games. 13 of those 15 wins have come by way of shutout for UCM. The Jens scored six total goals against the Bearcats in 2016.

Scouting the Competition
Lindenwood    
• Lindenwood is 2-1-0 in the early part of the season. The Lions only loss thus far in the season has been to Illinois Springfield, with their two wins coming against Minnesota-Crookston and Concordia-St. Paul.
• After winning a program record 10 games last season the Lions were picked to finish fifth in the MIAA Coaches Preseason Poll with 77 points. Lindenwood finished the 2016 campaign 10-8-1 overall and 6-5-0 in conference play.
• The Lions return six keys players from their 2016 squad that won their first ever MIAA Tournament game when they defeated Northeastern State, 1-0, before falling to the Jennies in the semis, 3-0.   
• Leading the way for Lindenwood will be senior forward Becky Roberts who scored seven goals last season and lead the team with six assists. In net, Mary McGilvray returns for her senior season after posting 1,000 minutes in 2016.
• Laurie Kaminski enters her 13th season as head coach for the Lindenwood Lions. In 2016, she picked up her 100th career win when the Lions defeated Missouri S&T, 4-3. 

Northwest Missouri
• The Bearcats are 1-1-0 in the early going of the 2017 season, with their one win coming against the University of Sioux Falls (SD), while their one loss is against Rockhurst.
• After going 4-12-1 in the 2016 season and finishing 2-9-0 in the MIAA, the bearcats are picked to finish 10th in this season's preseason coaches poll with 32 points.
• Northwest Missouri will have a combination of youth and experience on this year's squad with having nine upper classmen, eight of which are seniors, and a handful of sophomores who saw playing time in 2016.
• The leadership role for the Bearcats will come from senior defender Hannah Goetz who will play a crucial role for a defense that will boast some younger players. Offensively, Izzy Romano will lead the way for Northwest. As a freshman, Romano was named Second-Team All-MIAA after leading the team in assists with six while scoring four goals.
• Tracy Hoza is in her 15th season as head coach for the Bearcats and is the winningest head coach in the program's history.

The Best Defense is a Good Offense
• The Jennies 15 goals in four games this season are tied for fifth most in Division II this season for total goals.
• The Jennies 39 points on 15 goals scored and nine ranks seventh in the country in Division II in total offense
• With an average of 3.75 goals per game, UCM's scoring offense is ranked third in the MIAA and is tied for 13th in Division II. 
• Offensively, UCM has outscored its opponents 15-0 in four games played and has outshot opponents a combined 76-34 total and 41-21 in shots on goal.
• The Jennies, 15 goals scored through the first four games of the season are the second most under Head Coach Lewis Theobald. The 2015 squad has the most with 16 through the first four games.

Numbers Never Lie
• The Jennies have posted four straight shutouts to start the season for the second year in a row. The Jennies are tied for first in the MIAA in shutout percentage at 0.00.
• The Jennies all around defense in shutouts (4), goals-against average (0.00), and shutout percentage (1.000) are tied for first in Division II this season.
• The Jennies are one of three teams in the MIAA who have yet to allow a goal this season. The other two are Northeastern State and Fort Hays State.
