WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Feb. 9, 2017)-- The Central Missouri Mules Wrestling team (5-10, 1-4 MIAA) was shutout for the first time in a dual in over a year as they dropped a 42-0 contest to No. 5 McKendree Thursday night at the Multi. Prior to that shutout the Mules last went scoreless in a dual on Jan. 8, 2016, when they fell to Lake Erie College, 47-0.
The Mules forfeited 125 pounds, setting up the 6-0 lead for the Bearcats that they never relinquished. At 133 pounds
John Feeney was pinned in 2:45, while 141 pounder
Daide Agnew dropped a 11-9 decision giving McKendree a 15-0 lead.
The Bearcats continued to control the dual as they scored back-to-back tech fall victories.
Zachary Schridde gave up a 20-4 tech fall in 6:38, and
Zane Heiter dropped a 16-0 tech fall in 3:08.
At 165 pounds,
Jesse Reser had his three-dual win streak snapped Thursday night as he fell by way of an 8-4 decision. In just his third match as a Mule Wrestler,
Cole Kemna dropped a close 3-1 decision at 174 pounds. With three matches left, the Bearcats owned a 31-0 lead.
The Bearcats picked up eight more points scoring two-straight major decisions.
Brady Franklin fell via an 8-0 major decision at 184 pounds, while 197 pounder
Grant Sparks dropped a 16-4 major decision. At 285 pounds,
Chase Miller fell by way of a 6-2 decision.
The Mules will have a few days' rest before heading to the MIAA Championships on Sunday, Feb. 12, in Kearney, Neb. Action for the conference tournament will begin at 10 a.m.
