Jennies Roll to 78-43 Win over Harris-Stowe

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 28, 2017) - No. 12 Central Missouri Jennies Basketball picked up where they left off before the Thanksgiving break, cruising to a 78-43 win over NAIA opponent, Harris-Stowe. The win is the Jennies second in a row and puts them at 5-1 this season.

How it Happened
• Another game, another 9-0 start for the Jennies. It didn't take long for the Jennies to take the lead. Jolene Shipps connected on a jumper just eight seconds into the game, and the Jens led the rest of the way.
• UCM shot 45.2% from the floor going 28-for-62. They hit 10 three-pointers (10-28) and were 12-of-18 at the free throw line.
• Central Missouri got off to a slow start in the rebounding department, but finished with a plus-six edge. At the half, Harris-Stowe was outrebounding UCM 29-21. The Jens turned that around to the tune of 26-12 in half number two including eight on the offensive glass.
• The Jennies defense was in full effect as the Hornets shot just 24.2% (16-for-66) from the floor and 10% (2-for-20) from three. The Jennies also forced 19 Hornet turnover and blocked five shots.
• It was far from a perfect game for UCM as they too committed 19 turnovers. The Jens also got into some foul trouble with 15, sending HSSU to the line 16 times.
• The Hornets kept the game fairly close at half time, down 32-21. Take away the Jennies 9-0 run in the first two minutes, and UCM outscored the Hornets by just two, 23-21 the rest of the half.
• The second half is where UCM separated. They held the Hornets to just 11 points in both the third and fourth periods, while scoring 25 themselves in the third. In the final 4:27 of the third period, UCM went on a 15-2 run to take the lead from 12 to 25 and put the game out of reach.

It was Over When...
• That final 4:27 of the third saw the Jennies go 6-for-8 from the floor as they scored 15 points. Paige Redmond scored six of the points, Sydney Crockett, five and Kayonna Lee, four.
