WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 18, 2017) - No. 13 Central Missouri Jennies Basketball started their home slate with a 66-56 win over William Jewell.
How it Happened
• Central Missouri led wire-to-wire leading from their very first basket, a layup from
Jolene Shipps thirty seconds into the game.
• The Jennies outrebounded the Cardinals 38-20 and scored 12 second-chance points.
• Both teams scored 22 points in the paint and UCM had a 48% shooting percentage, including going 8-for-23 from three.
• Central Missouri blocked five shots with three from
Morgan Fleming and two from
Kayonna Lee.
• Free throws late in the first half from
Kelsey Williams gave the Jennies a 10-point lead as UCM appeared to be in control. But the Cardinals went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead down to four before
Kendra Gladbach knocked down a three, giving UCM a 30-23 lead going into halftime.
• Central Missouri took a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter and doubled that in the first 3:10 of the period. Threes from
Paige Redmond and
Sydney Crockett made it a 16-point game and Redmond finished a three-point play going up 59-39.
• William Jewell added some points late to close the gap, but it was too little, too late and the Jennies picked up their third straight win, 66-56.
It Was Over When...
• Central Missouri scored eight points in the first 2:07 of the fourth quarter to build lead. Redmond brought the lead to 20 splitting the defense and putting back a layup. She completed the three-point play and UCM went up an insurmountable 59-39.
Jennies Stat Leaders
• Redmond led all scorers with 16 points, all of them coming in the second half. The All-American got into foul trouble early, picking up two fouls in the first four minutes. She made up for it in the second half going 6-for-8 including 2-for-3 from three and 2-for-2 at the free throw line.
• Fleming was also in double-figures with 15 points and had a career-high three blocks.

Jolene Shipps secured 10 rebounds and scored seven points.
•
Sydney Crockett added eight points with two three pointers.
•
Kelsey Williams did a little bit of everything with seven points, six assists and two rebounds.
For the Cardinals
• Kayla Harrell scored a team-best 13 points with a pair of triples.
• Sydney Offield added 10 points.
• Katie Finn had a team-best four assists.
• Three Cardinals had a team-high three rebounds.
News and Notes
• The Jennies remained undefeated against the Cardinals, improving to 11-0 all-time.
• The five blocks are the most by the Jennies this season.
• UCM's +18 rebound differential is the most since last season's regular season finale against Pittsburg State.
• It was not a clean game for the Jennies by any means. UCM committed 19 fouls and had 22 turnovers, both season-highs. The 22 turnovers are the most since a loss at Central Oklahoma in January of 2016.
