Volleyball Ends Regular Season with 3-0 Sweep of MSSU

JOPLIN, Mo. (Nov. 11, 2017) - The 2017 Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball regular season came to a close Saturday evening in Joplin as the Jennies defeated Missouri Southern 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-12) to earn their fourth straight win. The Jens improve to 24-7 on the season and finish the MIAA with a record of 14-4.

How it Happened
• For the second straight match, the Jennies hit better than .300 with a .363 attack percentage. UCM landed 45 kills to just 12 errors while the defense held the Lions to a .032 attack percentage.
• Three Jennies landed in double-figure kills as Kasey Hohlen, Audrey Fisher and Aubree Bell accounted for 33 of UCM's 45 kills.
• The Jennies defense scored four points on blocks and dug out 43 MSSU attacks, while the Lions could only muster 31 digs in three sets.
• Set one was all UCM as they led the entire way. The Jennies scored eight of the first 10 points and never looked back to a big 25-11 win. Hohlen and Bell each had four kills in the set.
• The second set was much tighter with the teams trading points at the outset. Neither team held more than a two-point lead nearing the end of the frame. Missouri Southern had a 12-11 lead, but back-to-back kills from Molly Lawrence and Kasey Hohlen gave the Jens the lead for good. Carly Offerdahl punctuated the set with a service ace, the Jennies only ace of the match.
• Set three was another close one at the start, and then it very quickly was not. A Jennies error tied the set at nine-all, then UCM rattled off nine straight points, getting four kills and two blocks during the stretch. Four different Jennies had four kills in the set and UCM closed the match with four straight kills.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Kasey Hohlen's 13 kills were a match high. She hit better than .500 again for a .579 attack percentage.
• Aubree Bell and Audrey Fisher each had 10 kills in the match. Bell also picked up eight digs and Fisher had two blocks.
• Ally Offerdahl handed out 37 assists for the second consecutive night. She also had eight digs.
• Kylie Hohlen picked up 12 digs, Katie Carlson had seven and Carly Offerdahl had six.
• Molly Lawrence had nine kills.

For the Lions
• Bailey Rexford was the offensive leader with nine kills.
• Alicia Pickett knocked back eight blocks.
• Morgan Nash helped out with 20 assists on 24 kills.
• Janelle Brehm had eight digs while Teryn Scott had seven.

News and Notes
• The win puts the Jennies at 67-1-1 all time against Missouri Southern.
• Aubree Bell went over 200 digs for the season. She now has 200 kills and 200 digs as a freshman. The last Jennie to do that was Kylie Hohlen in 2015.
• The 14 MIAA wins surpasses last year's league win total by three.
• For the second straight year, the Jennies will be the number four seed in the upcoming MIAA Tournament. They will host a home match in the opening round against Northwest Missouri. The Jennies defeated Northwest Missouri 3-0 in 2015 in the MIAA Tournament opening round.

Up Next
• It's MIAA Tournament time! The Jennies are the four seed against the fifth seeded Northwest Missouri Bearcats. The Bearcats earned the fifth seed by virtue of a tie breaker with Lindenwood as both teams finished 11-7 in the league. The first round matchup will take place Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Multi.
