Football's Three-Game Win Streak Halted at UCO

EDMOND, Okla. (Oct. 28, 2017) - Central Missouri saw their three game winning streak come to a halt Saturday afternoon at the hands of the Central Oklahoma Bronchos. UCO put up 48 points in the 48-30 victory, dropping UCM to 6-3 on the season.

How it Happened
• Central Oklahoma used a balance attack and kept the Mules high-powered offense off the field. The Bronchos held onto the ball for 37:31, to the Mules 22:29 and ran 24 more offensive plays.
• UCO held the Mules to just 16 first downs, while picking up 28 themselves. 
• The Mules rushing attack couldn't get going, gaining just 58 yards on the day.
• Central Missouri lost the turnover battle 4-2, throwing four interceptions. 
• The Mules actually scored first in this one, getting ahead 7-0 on an eight yard rush from Koby Wilkerson.
• After the Mules TD, Central Oklahoma scored 24 straight points, getting two touchdowns from Bruce White and a 26-yard throw and catch from Chas Stallard to J.T. Luper, going up 24-7 right after halftime.
• The first half had a wild finish with interceptions from each team on the final two plays of the period. Monteze Latimore nearly ran it back, but was stopped at the UCO 12 yard line. 
• The Mules were able to get back to within 10, 27-17 when Jaylen Zachery caught a 31-yard touchdown pass.
• But the Bronchos scored three straight touchdowns in just 4:11 to put the game out of reach.
• Central Missouri scored two late touchdowns, a 59-yard catch and run from Wesley Thomas and a one-yard TD rush from Devonte Turner. 

It was Over When...
Jaylen Zachery scored on the first play of the fourth quarter, a 31-yard strike from Bolles. The Bronchos were able to answer with just a two-play drive in 55 seconds. On the Mules first play of their next possession, the Bronchos picked off a pass and were able to score four plays later, to go ahead 41-17.

Mules Stat Leaders
• Bolles had another 300 yard passing game, throwing for a career-high 372 yards. He also had two touchdown passes and ran for 27 yards.
• Jaylen Zachery finished with game-high 146 receiving yards and a touchdown pass.
• Wesley Thomas was also over 100 yards receiving with 129.
• Devante Turner and Koby Wilkerson each had a rushing touchdown. Turner totaled 17 yards while Wilkerson had 14.
• Diaron Rhodes had a game-high 15 tackles.
• Monteze Latimore and Jackson Newman each had an interception.
• Austin Miller picked up a sack along with seven tackles. 

For the Bronchos
• Chas Stallard threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 65 yards.
• Stallard didn't spread the ball around, throwing to only four receivers. J.T. Luper had 11 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown.
• Two other receivers had 100 yards and a touchdown. Josh Crockett had seven catches for 114 yards and a score. L'liott Curry had two touchdowns and 133 receiving yards.
• Bruce White made his first start in the backfield and rushed for 134 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns. 
• Four different Bronchos had an interception and they returned them for a combined 54 yards.
• Alex Figueroa had four tackles, an interception and a sack.

News and Notes
• Jaylen Zachery's touchdown was his first of the season and the 16th of his career.
• Brook Bolles has thrown for 300 yards in six straight games.
• The 48 points the Mules allowed are the most in an MIAA game under Coach Svoboda.
• For Monteze Latimore, his interception was the 11th of his career.  
• The loss also snaps the Mules three game road winning streak.
• This is the first loss in UCM history to Central Oklahoma. They had previously been 5-0.
• It the the Mules first loss to an unranked team since losing in double-overtime to Emporia State last year in week four.

Up Next
The Mules return home for their final home game of the regular season. They take on Northeastern State for Senior Day with a 1 p.m. kickoff. The RiverHawks won their first game of the season this week with a double-overtime win against Missouri Southern.
