TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2017)-- In their only exhibition game of the 2017-18 season, Central Missouri Mules Basketball took on the Florida State Seminoles to prepare for the upcoming 2017-18 season. The Seminoles used numerous scoring runs to eventually walk away with a 116-68 win over the Mules.
How It Happened
• The Mules shot 18-of-53 from the floor to finish at 34 percent field goal percentage. After going 8-of-26 in the first half, the Mules went 10-of-27 in the second half, while allowing the Seminoles to shoot 40-of-69 over the 40 minutes of action.
•
Spencer Reaves scored the first nine of 11 points for the Mules, but the Seminoles countered strong scoring 31 points in the same time to hold a 31-11 lead with 8:35 left to play in the first half.
• The Seminoles continued to hold a double digit lead over the Mules with quick scores by guards Terance Mann, M.J. Walker and PJ Savoy to lead 39-20 with five minutes left in the first half.

Clarence Smith, and Reaves kept the Mules within 20, but they scored just six point from the field in the final five minutes while scoring 10 from the charity strip. The Mules trailed the Seminoles 56-36 at halftime.
• The Mules and Seminoles traded buckets in the first two minutes of the second half to bring the score to 61-41. Reaves and Smith scored the first five points of the second half on a three pointer and layup, respectively. The Seminoles responded though going on a 10-0 run to grab a 30 point lead, 71-41.
• With 11:20 to go in the game, Reaves nailed a jumper to cut the Mules deficit to 79-51, but another Seminoles scoring run, this time 9-0, pushed their lead to 88-51 as they held the Mules scoreless for just over three minutes. Smith ended UCM's scoring drought with a jumper at the 8:13 mark of the second half.
• Smith found some rhythm in the second half for UCM scoring 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting in 15 minutes of action.
• Both teams went back-and-forth in the final 15 minutes, but the Seminoles used late scoring runs to ultimately pull away from the Mules with the 48 point win.
It Was Over When...
• With a 61-41 lead with 18:22 left in regulation, the Seminoles went on a 10-0 scoring run to give themselves 30 point lead that Mules never recovered from. Fouls from the Mules led to six Seminole points off of free throws, while they hit just two shots from the field during their 10-0 run.
Mules Stat Leaders
• Reaves scored a game-high 26 points on 6-of-14 shooting. He was perfect 12-for-12 at the free throw line and pulled down four rebounds to also lead UCM.
• Smith's 10 second half points put him at 15 for the game as he was the only other Mule to score in double-figures. He finished 5-of-9 from the field.

Blake Spellman and Reaves both had two assists, while Spellman chipped in seven points.Â
• Winger also added seven points for the Mules.
For the Seminoles
• Five FSU players finished with double-figure points, with Savoy leading the way at 19 points. He shot 6-of-11 from the field, while hitting a game-high four three pointers on nine attempts.
• M.J. Walker added 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting while dishing out two assists and grabbing two rebounds.
• Mann and CJ Walker both scored 12 points apiece, while Mfiondu Kabengele chipped in 11. Kabengele also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
• Anthony Polite handed out a game-high four assists and scored six points.
News and Notes
• Central Missouri moves to 8-16 all-time in exhibition games, with a 4-16 mark against Division I opponents.
• Dating back to last season, Reaves has scored in double-figures in the last 16 games for the Mules.
• This was the first meeting between the Mules and Seminoles. It is the first time assistant coach
Nate Johnson has faced off against his former team. Johnson played for the Seminoles from 2002-2004.

• The next time the Mules step on the hardwood, it will be for real. The Mules will travel to Wisconsin Dells Nov. 10-11 to take on a pair in-region foes. On Nov. 10, UCM takes on Minnesota State-Duluth. The next day, Nov. 11, UCM squares off against Bemidji State. Game times are set for 7:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
