Top-Ranked Jennies to Host a Pair of Kansas Schools This Weekend

The Week Ahead
• The Jennies have their final two home games of the regular season this Friday and Sunday. On Friday, Oct. 13, the Jennies take on the Emporia State Hornets at 7 p.m. Following Friday's match, UCM will host Washburn for Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 15. Eight seniors will be recognized this year.
• The Jennies checked in at No. 1 this week after improving to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the MIAA. This is just the second time in program history UCM has earned the No.1 ranking. They Jennies sit atop the poll after being ranked No. 2 the week before.
• UCM swept the MIAA Athletes of the Week honors for the third week in a row after another 2-0 weekend. Jada Scott and Kayla Hamner were the Offensive Player and Defensive Player, respectively, while Ana Dilkes was the Goalkeeper of the Week. This is the sixth straight honor for Dilkes at goalkeeper, third straight for Hamner and second straight for Scott.

Series History
Emporia State: UCM leads 21-3-2
The Jennies and Hornets were in a low scoring affair when they met in 2016. UCM walked away with the 1-0 win over ESU and  has won its last 17 of 18 matches against ESU. The Hornets last defeated the Jennies in 2005.

Washburn: UCM leads 19-5-1
The Jennies matched up twice against the Ichabods in 2016, once for a MIAA regular seaosn match and the other in the MIAA Tournament. UCM won both matches by score of 3-0 and 4-0, respectively. The Jennies have won their last 11 matches against the Ichabods.

Scouting the Competition
Emporia State
• The Hornets are 6-4-2 heading into week seven of the regular season and are on a two-game winning streak going into their match with the Jennies. ESU's two ties this year are against Nebraska-Kearney and Central Oklahoma.
• The Hornets currently sit seventh in the MIAA standings and are one of five teams with a winning streak in the conference. Entering the year the Hornets were picked to finish seventh in the MIAA in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
• The Hornets have 11 players from 2016 on this year's squad that scored a goal, including their top three scorers. Sophomores Maddie Taylor, Tanna Benefiel, and Kennedy Hoffman are return as the leaders on offense.
• Benefiel leads the offensive charge for the Hornets so far this season with nine points on four goals and one assist. Helping out on offense with three goals apiece are Hoffman, Ashylynn Summar, and Olivia Miller.
• Defensively, Bethany Reeves has been the starter in net for the Hornets. She is 6-4-2 and has collected 55 saves while allowing 17 goals. Her 55 saves are third-most in the MIAA.

Washburn
• The Ichabods are 7-4-1 going into the weekend with a two-game winning streak and sit fifth in the MIAA standings. In MIAA play, the Ichabods 3-2 with wins over Nebraska-Kearney, Missouri Southern, and Southwest Baptist.
• The Ichabods will look to get back into the post season yet after making to the MIAA Tournament in 2016. They fell in the first round to the Jennies, 4-0. Washburn was preseason picked to finish eighth in the MIAA this year.
• Washburn does have a number of new faces on this year's team, but return three All-MIAA performers from last season in seniors Emily Stauffer, Kaitlin Minnich, and Morgan El-Attrache.
• Offensively, Ellie Karloff leads the way for the Ichabods thus far. She has 10 points on five goals scored to lead in scoring. Tera Lynch and and Paige Ledesma lead the way in assists with three apiece. 
• On the defensive end, Kaitlin Minnich has started all 12 games in net for Washburn. She has grabbed 59 saves and allowed 12 goals this season. Her 59 saves this season are second-most in the MIAA.

The Best Defense is a Good Offense
• The Jennies 48 goals scored through 12 games this season are most in Division II.
• The Jennies are averaging 4.00 goals per game this season which ranks second in Division II in scoring offense.
• With 122 points total on 48 goals scored and 26 assists, the Jennies are third in Division II in total points.
• UCM's 23 assists this season are tied for 12th most in Division II. In 12 games, UCM has outscored opponents 48-0 with a 239-116 shots advantage.

Numbers Never Lie
• The Jennies have posted 12 straight shutouts, which is the most in Division II this season so far. They have yet to allow a goal in 1,080 minutes of action this season.
• The Jennies all-around defense in shutouts (12), goals-against average (0.00), and save percentage (1.000) leads all of Division II this season.
• The Jennies are the only team left in the MIAA who has yet to allow a goal this season and their 51 saves through 12 games are fourth most in the conference as well.

One for the Record Books
• The 2017 squad is the first team in program history and MIAA history to post 12 consecutive shutouts. 
• UCM just the fourth team in NCAA Division II history to post 12 consecutive shutouts
• Dating back to the 2015 season, UCM has scored a goal in 45 straight games which is an MIAA record.
Ana Dilkes is the only goalkeeper in MIAA history to post 12 consecutive shutouts.
• The Jennies are ranked No. 1 for just the second time in program history. They were last ranked No. 1 during the 2015 season (9/22- 10/6).

There's No Place Like Home
• Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 18-0 at Jennies Field and have allowed just two goals in that span.
• The Jennies have outscored opponents 59-2 in goals at home since 2016, and still have yet to allow a goal at home in six games this season.
• All-time at Jennies Field, UCM is 128-26-7 with a .817 winning percentage. Under Head Coach Lewis Theobald, the Jennies are 99-9-5 at home since 2007 and have posted undefeated home records three times.
