DENVER, Colo. (Sept. 10, 2016) - No. 6 Central Missouri Volleyball wrapped up their time in Colorado with their third straight win, a 3-0 sweep of Regis (26-24, 25-18, 25-14). The Jennies move to 6-2 on the season and went 3-1 at the Colorado Premier Challenge.
The Jennies were again efficient on offense, hitting .283 for the match, their third straight match hitting .280 or above.
Cheyanne Lyons led the charge with 11 kills and a .308 attack percentage.
Kasey Hohlen landed nine kills on 14 attempts with no errors to hit .643 for the match.
Kourtney Thompson collected 31 assists for the second time today and
Katie Carlson finished with a match-high 19 digs.
Central Missouri also held a distinctive edge with seven blocks to the Rangers zero.
Mackenzie Harding's career-high tying five blocks, led the Jens. Regis hit .120 for the match and committed 22 attack errors.
The first set was the only close one of the match. The frame had 16 ties and six lead changes and the Jens needed an extra 26th point to seal the win. Late in the frame, the Jennies led by two, 22-20, when the Rangers knocked three straight kills to take a 23-22 lead. Regis had UCM on the ropes at 24-23 after a Maggie Steward kill, but the Jens got a kill from Harding and two Ranger attack errors to escape with the set win.
With things tied at six in set number two, UCM scored five straight points to take a lead they never relinquished, cruising to a 25-18 set win.Â
The third set followed the same formula as the second. With the score knotted at eight, the Jennies ended the match on a 17-6 run to earn their second sweep of the day.
The Rangers' Katie Klein and Yagoda Jedrzejczak each landed nine kills. Silvia Basso dished out 16 assists and Gabby Hough added 15.
Central Missouri returns home next week for the Peggy Martin Challenge. The two day tournament takes place Friday-Saturday, Sept. 16-17.
