WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Jens were held scoreless over the two games losing 8-0 and 2-0 in the MIAA matchup Friday evening.
Game One: Missouri Western 8, Central Missouri 0Jennies starter
Emily Robinson pitched her way out of a bases-loaded jam with no outs in the first inning with a strikeout, foul out and a fly out. The Jens went down in order in their half of the first.
Emily King gave UCM their first hit of the day with a single in the third inning.
The Griffons got on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run single. Missouri Western added a run to their lead in the sixth inning on a single to the outfield. The Griffons tacked on five runs in the seventh inning and took game one 8-0.
Robinson pitched six innings while giving up five runs and striking out two. The loss drops Robinson to 6-4 on the season.
Game two: Missouri Western 2, Central Missouri 0Jordan Johnson got the start in game two for the Jens, and did not allow a hit through her first two innings of work, while allowing only one hit total through the first four innings.
The Griffons got on the board in the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. Missouri Western tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning in a solo shot to center field.
The Jennies totaled five hits in game two, all singles. Johnson went the distance striking out three and allowing two runs. The loss drops her to 4-3 on the season.
The losses drop the Jennies to 11-12 overall and 3-3 in the MIAA. The Jens are back in action tomorrow with a double header against Northwest Missouri State starting at 1 p.m.
