No. 4 Jennies Soccer wins MIAA Tournament Championship with 7-0 shutout over Central Oklahoma

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 6, 2016)-- The fourth-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer team won its fourth overall and third straight MIAA Tournament Championship Game with a 7-0 victory over the Central Oklahoma Bronchos Sunday afternoon at Jennies Field. The Jennies improve to 19-1 overall and have won 10 straight games.

Senior Hannah Pyle scored twice, while sophomores Courtney Killian and Jada Scott, and juniors Mikala Modiri and Megan Woolley all scored one goal a-piece. In net, junior Ana Dilkes collected six saves en route to her 19th win of the season and 16th shutout of the season.

The Jennies wasted little to no time getting on the board when they scored in the first minute of the game. Pyle went down the right end of the box near the net and sent a high shot to far left side of the net where Killian got a piece of the ball to score the goal. Killian's goal is her fourth of the season.

Pyle was not done yet as she found the back of the net in the 20th minute as she went down the right sideline, got to the box, and hit her shot left end of the net pass the goalkeeper's reach. Her goal was the first of two in the game.

With the 2-0 lead, the Jennies got some help from the Bronchos in 28th minute. Junior Taylor Thompson lined up a corner kick that landed in the middle of the box where a Broncho player knocked it in for the own goal.

The Jennies did not let up in the first half scoring two more goals. In the 28th minute Scott handled the ball just past midfield, beat her defender and went down the middle of the field and nailed her shot into the top left end of the net before the goalkeeper reached it. Scott's goal is her 15th of the season.

10 minutes later, Modiri added to the Jennies lead scoring her third of the season in the 38th minute. Freshman Kelsey Mueller handled the ball in the middle of the box saw and passed to an open Modiri and she popped her shot just over the goalkeeper's head to push the Jennies lead to 5-0 by halftime. Mueller's assist is the first of her career.

The Bronchos and Jennies entered halftime taking six shots each, but the Jennies had six shots on the goals and held the Bronchos to just one.

The Jennies opened up the second half with a quick score in the 48th minute. Woolley fielded the ball in the middle of the box, dribbled to the left side of the box and crossed her shot back to the right end of net past the goalkeeper's reach.

Woolley's goal is the 23rd of her career which moves her into a tie for ninth all-time in program history with Alyssa Rhodes (2008-11). Her career point total also bumps to 58 which moves her into a tie for eighth all-time in program history with Molly McCain (1997-99).

The Jennies did not score again until the 88th minute when Pyle scored her second goal of the game. She went down the right sideline with the ball where Bronchos goalkeeper Ally Salls stepped out of the box to stop her, but Pyle beat her one-on-one and scored into an empty net.

Pyle's two goals moves her career total 33, which moves her into a tie for fifth all-time in program history with Becky Lackey (2010-13). Her assist is the 20th of her career which ranks her fourth all-time in program. Her two goals and one assist in the game moves career point total to 86, which now ranks her tied for third all-time in program history with Melanie Hall (2006-09).

Offensively, the Jennies finished the game with 12 total shots, nine shots on goal, and two assists.

Defensively, the Jennies gave up 14 shots to the Bronchos, but limited them to just six shots on goal en route to their 18th shutout of the season.

With the win, the Jennies received the MIAA's automatic bid to the NCAA-II Central Region Tournament. The NCAA-II Women's Soccer selection show will air on Monday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.
