The Week Ahead
• After their third straight 2-0 weekend, Jennies Soccer stayed put at No. 2 in week five of the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) Poll, released Tuesday afternoon.
• Junior
Ana Dilkes and senior
Emily Eldridge were named MIAA Goalkeeper and Defender of the Week, respectively, for the third straight week. Dilkes was perfect yet again in stopping all seven shots on goal in two games last week. Eldridge helped UCM hold their two opponents to a combined seven shots on goal and 12 total shots as the Jennies improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the MIAA.
• The Jennies hit the road this weekend as they continue conference play. They travel to Central Oklahoma Friday and Northeastern State Sunday.
Series History
Central Oklahoma: UCM leads 6-3-3
The Jennies have won the last two matchups against the Bronchos in shutout fashion. UCO last won a match against UCM in 2013 when they defeated the Jennies 3-1 in Warrensburg.
Northeastern State: UCM leads 8-2-1
UCM went 1-1 against NSU in 2015. The Riverhawks defeated the Jennies 1-0 in Warrensburg to give them their second loss of the season. Entering the weekend, UCM and NSU are the only remaining undefeated teams in the MIAA.
Scouting the Competition
Central Oklahaoma
• The Bronchos are 6-3-1 this season overall and 2-1 in the MIAA. The Bronchos started conference play 2-0, then lost to Emporia State 2-0 last week. Entering the weekend, The Bronchos sit fourth in the MIAA.
• The Bronchos were picked to finish second in the MIAA this season behind the Jennies. The Bronchos finished the 2015 campaign 12-5-3 overall and 7-2-2 in the MIAA. Head Coach Mike Cook is in his 19th season at Central Oklahoma.
• The Bronchos return 21 players from last year's squad, including last year's MIAA Freshman of the Year, Katie Killion, who led the team with 10 goals and six assists.
• Offensively, the Bronchos are led by Killion, Asha Haile, and Mikayla Lowery, who all have nine points entering the weeknd. Both Killion and Haile have four goals and one assist, while Haile has three goals and three assists.
• The Bronchos enter the weekend ranked in the top five in the MIAA in total points, goals, and assists with 54, 20, and 14, respectively.
Northeastern State
• The Riverhawks are 10-0 on the season overall and 3-0 in the MIAA. Entering the weekend, the Riverhawks and Jennies are the only undefeated teams remaining in the MIAA.
• The Riverhawks were picked to finish third the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll this year after going 14-5-2 overall and 7-3-1 in the MIAA in 2015. The Riverhawks finished third last season and advanced all the way to MIAA Tournament Championship.
• The Riverhawks earned their first ever ranking in the NSCAA Top 25 Poll in week three when they came in tied for 25th with Bellarmine. The Riverhawks are ranked No. 19 in this week's poll.
• The Riverhawks return eight starters this season, including senior forward and last year's MIAA leading scorer Anastasia Robinson and senior goalkeeper Jordan Woodruff.
• Offensively, the Riverhawks are led by Julia Mathis who leads the MIAA in goals and points with 10 and 22, respectively. Defensively, the Riverhawks have allowed just three goals this season, which is second best in the MIAA behind the Jennies.
• The Riverhawks handed the Jennies their second loss in 2015 with 1-0 road win on Oct. 18.
One for the Record Books
• The Jennies are 9-0 for the third time in program history. It is the first time in program history they have started 9-0 and posted shutouts in every game.
• The Jennies nine straight shutouts this season is a program record. Their previous best was eight straight from Oct. 16-Nov. 14, 2010.
• The Jennies have been ranked in the top-five in all four regular season and the preseason NSCAA polls in 2016.
• The Jennies are the only remaining team in the MIAA and Division II who have held all their opponents scoreless this season.
• UCM is one of just two teams left in the NCAA who has yet to allow a goal this season.
The Best Defense is a Good Offense
• The Jennies have outscored their seven opponents a combined 20-0 and collected 30 saves this season. Defensively, the Jennies have held their last eight opponents to under 10 total shots.
• The Jennies are currently ranked first in the MIAA in goals allowed and shutouts with zero and nine, respectively.
• Offensively, the Jennies are ranked third in the MIAA in total points and goals with 54 and 20, respectively. They rank second in scoring average with 2.222 goals per game.
