The Week Ahead
• The Jennies finished their regular season road stand at 8-1 and will return home for their final four matches of the season. The Jennies are undefeated at home this season at 4-0, are 12-1 overall, and 6-1 in MIAA play.
• Jennies Soccer swept this week's MIAA Soccer Athletes of the Week honors.
Jada Scott and
Emily Eldridge were tabbed the offensive and defensive player of the week, respectively, while
Ana Dilkes was named the goalkeeper of the week. Scott scored three goals and assisted on one last week for UCM, while Eldridge and Dilkes anchored a defense that posted back-to-back shutouts for the fifth time this season.
• The Jennies will host Missouri Southern Friday Oct. 21 and Southwest Baptist Sunday Oct. 23 to start their final four game home stand. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
Series History
Missouri Southern: UCM leads 19-8-2
UCM has outscored MSSU 58-29 overall since their match in 1999. The Lions last defeated the Jennies in 2013 in Warrenburg, 2-1. The Jennies have won the last two match-ups after that outscoring the Lions 5-1.
Southwest Baptist: UCM leads 26-8-2
The Jennies first ever match as a program came against the Bearcats in 1995 with the Jennies winning 4-0 in Boliver. UCM has controlled the series against SBU outscoring them 101-32.
Scouting the Competition
Missouri Southern
• The Lions are 3-8-2 overall and 0-6-1 in the MIAA entering this weekend. The Lions only wins this season came against Ouachita Baptist, Central Oklahoma, and Southwest Baptist.
• The Lions were picked to finish 11th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, just ahead of Northwest Missouri State. The Lions finished their 2015 campaign 2-15-1 overall and 0-10-1 in the MIAA.
• Head Coach Chris McNaughton and Assistant Coach Maddi Moon both are in their first year at Missouri Southern.
• The Lions return eight players from last season and brought 23 newcomers to this year's squad.
• Offensively, the Lions are led by sophomore Bailey North, freshman Tayler LePage, and junior Taylor Beck, who all have five points on the season so far.
• The Lions are still looking for their first conference win since Oct. 19, 2014 when they defeated Emporia State 1-0. The Lions have gone 0-20-2 in the MIAA in that span and have been outscored 37-8.
Southwest Baptist
• The Bearcats 0-13 overall and 0-7 in MIAA play entering Week 8 of the season. The Bearcats have been outscored 37-5 this season and their last win came on Oct. 29, 2015 against Missouri Southern, 2-1.
• The Bearcats were picked to finish sixth and totaled 63 points in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll. The Bearcats finished the 2015 season 9-9-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the MIAA to place fifth.
• Head Coach Megan Link is in her second season leading the Bearcats. Link played for the Bearcats as a student and was a four-year starter at goalkeeper earning MIAA All-Conference and MIAA All-Academic honors each year.
• The Bearcats return three All-MIAA players from a season ago in junior defender AC Pettit, junior midfielder Whitney Snow, and senior midfielder Elin Hammar.
• Leading the way offensively for the Bearcats is Elin Hammar. She leads the team in points, goals, and assists with six and two a-piece, respectively.
• The Bearcats last defeated the Jennies 3-2 in two overtimes on Oct. 12, 2007 in Warrensburg.
Numbers Never Lie
• The Jennies have started 12-1 for the third time in program history.
• Through the first 13 games, the Jennies have allowed just two goals, which is the least amount in program history.
• The Jennies have been ranked in the top-five in all six regular season and the preseason NSCAA polls in 2016.
• UCM has yet to allow a goal in their 12 wins this season and have out-shot 11 of their 13 opponents this season.
The Best Offense is a Good Defense
• In Division-II,
Ana Dilkes ranks first in save percentage at .962 and goals against average at .155.
• In Division-II, the Jennies are first in shutout percentage, goals against average, and total goals allowed at .923, .155, and two, respectively.
• The Jennies are tied for first in Division-II in shutouts with 12.
• In the MIAA,
Jada Scott sits second in points at 19 and is tied for second in goals with seven, and tied for third in assists with five.
• Offensively, the Jennies are fourth in the MIAA in total points and tied for third in goals with 72 and 23, respectively. They rank third in scoring average with 2.077 goals per game.
