EDMOND, Okla. – Central Missouri Jennies Basketball fell to Central Oklahoma Saturday afternoon, 77-48. The loss puts the Jennies at 7-10 on the season and 6-6 in MIAA play.
Ashley Jones led the Jennies recording her sixth double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
Shelby Winkelmann was also in double-figures scoring 11 points and
Ashley Duffy chipped in with nine.
The Jennies shot 34.5% from the floor and were 4-17 (23.5%) from three. They also committed 27 turnovers which led to 29 Broncho points.
The first period started out with both teams trading buckets. After Jones tied the game at 13, the Bronchos knocked in a three and a layup in the final two minutes and took a three point lead, 18-15 after one.
Central Oklahoma extended their lead to seven early in the second half. The Jennies were able to come all the way back, taking a one-point lead, 27-26 on a three-pointer from Duffy with 6:32 remaining.
The Jennies offense went cold after Duffy's three, not hitting a single field goal for the rest of the half. UCO used that time to regain and build their lead to 15, 44-29, at intermission.
Central Missouri had been getting out to strong second halves, but didn't have an answer on offense for the Broncho defense. The Bronchos were able to maintain a double-digit lead the rest of the way, closing out the game 77-48.
UCO had four in double-figures, led by Haley Weathers who scored 18. Megan Womack led the team with seven rebounds and Jordan Ward dished out seven assists.
The Jennies come back home next week for a pair of MIAA games. They take on Washburn Wed., Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. and Emporia State Sat., Jan. 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the Multi.
