SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –
The Central Missouri Mules rebounded from a 9-3 defeat in game one to pound Drury 13-1 in game two and salvage a split of their non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Meador Park.

The Mules (20-15) got on the board first in game one when Derek Cornell singled home Trevor Jones to make it 1-0 in the top of the first. The Panthers (14-14-1) didn't waste any time in regaining the lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good. Bobby Lang had an RBI single and later scored on Conner Wilson's two-run home run.

UCM got a run back in the second when Jackson Schnurbusch scored on a balk, but Drury came right back with a Marcus Enloe solo home run in the bottom half to make it 4-2. The DU lead grew to 6-2 in the third when Luke Tewes and Tyler Arthur each hit solo home runs.

The Mules got a run in the sixth on Dylan Farrell's RBI single to left, but the Panthers tallied three more in the bottom half on run-scoring hits from Enloe, Dallas Williams and Lang to make it 9-3.

Ross Juliana (1-2) took the loss for UCM after allowing four runs on five hits in just 1.1 innings of work.

Spencer Wilmes (1-0) got the win for Drury after allowing two runs on five hits in 3.1 innings of work.

The Mules started game two just as quickly as they did in game one, plating three runs in the first to claim the early lead. Dusty Maas doubled home Jones to score the first run of the inning and Bennett Oliver delivered a two-run home run, his team-leading fourth of the season, to make it 3-0 in favor of UCM.

The Mules added another run in the third when Maas singled home Colin Frederick to extend the lead to 4-0. They doubled the lead in the fourth with four more runs to make it 8-0. Three straight singles loaded the bases for Maas, who cleared the bases with a triple to the gap in right center. He later scored on Cornell's single to right.

UCM blew the game wide open in the fifth inning, putting five runs on the board for a 13-0 lead. Frederick had an RBI fielder's choice, the Mules scored a run on a wild pitch and Cornell delivered a three-run bomb to right center field, the first of his career.

The Panthers got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Mike Rafter singled home Christian Magno to make it 13-1 in favor of the Mules, but that's how the game would end.

Ricky Rivera (5-2) picked up the win for the Mules allowing just two hits over two innings in a pre-determined start. Six different UCM pitchers appeared in the game and combined to allow just six hits and one run.

Austin Simms (1-2) took the loss for Drury after allowing eight runs on 11 hits in 3.1 innings of work.

The Mules pounded out 14 hits in game two and combined for 23 in the doubleheader. Maas went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs scored in the nightcap.

The Mules return to conference play this weekend as they travel to Topeka, Kansas for a four-game series with Washburn. The series gets underway with a single game on Friday night at 5 p.m. at Falley Field on the Washburn campus.
