Box Score | Season Stats

ST. CHARLES, Mo. --
The Mules were out-hit 15-7 and two errors led to three unearned runs as they fell to Lindenwood 13-4 in the third game of their four-game series at the Lou Brock Sports Complex on Saturday morning. The Lions have taken two of the first three games in the series with the finale set for Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m..

The Mules (28-19, 23-13 MIAA) jumped on top on Derek Cornell's first inning RBI single. They added to the lead in the third when Colin Frederick scored an unearned run to make it 2-0. Lindenwood (25-23, 15-16 MIAA) took the lead in the bottom half with three runs. Nathan Prindle hit a two-run home run to tie the game and Ryan Light's fielder's choice RBI scored Wade Rothermich to make it 3-2 LWU.

UCM went back in front in the fifth when Tony Sandifer singled home a pair of runs to make it 4-3. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Lions broke the game open with a six spot in the bottom of the seventh inning to grab a 9-4 lead. They added to the lead in the eighth with four more runs, including a Drew Quinones two-run homer, to make it 13-4.

Mules' starter Tyler House allowed four runs on six hits in six innings of work, but didn't factor in the decision. He struck out four and walked three in the game. Austin Southmayd (1-2) took the loss for UCM after allowing five runs on five hits in just two-thirds of an inning. Ross Juliana gave up for runs, only one earned, on four hits in 1.1 innings of relief.

Connor Law (3-3) earned the win in relief for Lindenwood tossing three innings of three-hit relief. Starter Brendan Kleekamp allowed four runs on four hits in six innings of work. He walked five and fanned four.

Sunday's series finale is also the regular season finale for both teams. The Mules can clinch a spot in the top four of the MIAA standings and the right to host an MIAA Tournament First Round series with a win, or a doubleheader split on Saturday between Washburn and Nebraska-Kearney.
